An interesting field of nine has been confirmed for the Suwannee River. It is race 10 on Gulfstream's Saturday card with a post time of 5:59 PM. Let's take a brief glance into the credentials of all nine entries and what brought them to this Grade 3 stakes.
Romacaca - graded stakes winner Romacaca has won three of her last five starts including the Grade 3 Modesty Handicap at Arlington Park July 14 and two minor stakes races - one coming two back on this track in the South Beach Stakes and the other at Hawthorne in the Indian Maid Handicap. Last time out was a third in the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf January 19 here. Romacaca has been terrific as of late and is expected to be again this Saturday.
Inglorious - Queens Plate winner and Canada's champion three year old filly and runner up for horse of the year in 2011 had four starts in 2012 - a third last time out in the Grade 2 Bayakoa at Hollywood Park December 8, a third in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine way back on July 8 after a disappointing fourth in the Grade 2 Nassau and a second to fellow Marketing Mix in an Allowance race at Keeneland. Leading Astray - has nine career starts with five impressive wins including the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington Park on September 15 and the Hatoof Stakes before that. Her last three starts have also been good for trainer Chris Block - a third last time out in the Grade 3 Marshua's River Stakes, a second in the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere at Churchill Downs November 17 and a third before that in the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland. Leading Astray has been in the money every time out and is certainly a threat in the Suwannee River.
Hard Not to Like - made her 2012 debut with a good second place finish in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland on April 7 after a good juvenile campaign. Her only other start of 2012 came back in May - a sixth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks. Last time out was a nice win in the Grade 3 Marshua's River Stakes on this track January 5. She has four wins and a second in eight career starts and based on her score last time out could be a factor in the Suwannee.
