CashCall Futurity 2013 Contenders & Odds

Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 CashCall Futurity is on tap for this Saturday, December 14 from Betfair Hollywood Parkin Inglewood, California. Some of the best two year olds in the land will take to Hollywood Park's synthetic track and chase the winner's portion of the lucrative $750,000 purse over 1 1/16 miles.

A terrific field of 13 has been confirmed for the CashCall Futurity - the last graded stakes race that will ever be run at Hollywood Park. It is race 9 on Hollywood Park's Saturday card with a post time of 4:35 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all 13 combatants for this intriguing and lucrative Grade 1 stakes.

2013 CashCall Futurity Race Favorite Entries

Tap It Rich - Bob Baffert trainee has two career starts - a MSW 4 1/4 length score at Santa Anita October 12 and a fifth last time out as second choice among bettors in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Despite the lack of action Tap It Rich comes with some hype. He will be out to give his trainer a record sixth CashCall Futurity. Mike Smith will be in the saddle from post 5.

Tamarando - Jerry Hollendorfer trained colt had three MSW starts to start his career and finally broke maiden on this track August 18 after a second in his second start and a fourth in his debut. He has gone on to win two of four starts - the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity at 7-1 odds over Dance with Fate September 4 and the 1 1/16 mile, $100,000 Real Quite Stakes by 3 1/4 lengths over Electric Eddie and Karma King last time out on this very track. He also had a pair of thirds sandwiched in there - the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita in September in his first try around two turns and the minor Golden State Juvenile. He will be looking to become only the third horse to win the Real Quiet and the CashCall in the same year had appears to have the form be at least give it a good run. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard from post 2 Saturday.

Bond Holder - Doug O'Neill trainee debuted with a fifth in the minor Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes July 13 and raced three MSW races after that - all at Del Mar. He was a second August 31 after a third August 11 and another third July 27. He made a graded stakes debut to remember - a terrific win in the Grade I FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita September 28 and most recently finished an OK fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Bond Holder will have Mario Gutierrez in the saddle from post 3.

Shared Belief - impressive Jerry Hollendorfer trained colt is coming off a terrific win last time out by an impressive 7 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes over Kobe's Back with a Beyer Speed Figure of 99 on this track November 10 after a win in his only other start - a MSW at Golden Gate October 19. Corey Nakatani gets the call from post 6.

Electric Eddie - has five career starts with no wins and two second place fishes - both of those coming in his last two starts - both minor stakes action. Last time out was a second to Tamarando in the Real Quite Stakes here November 23 after a second in the Golden State Juvenile Stakes at Santa Anita November 1. He will race in graded stakes company for the first time and looks OK ahead of the CashCall.

Karma King - most recently finished third behind Tamarando and Electric Eddie in the Real Quiet Stakes on this track November 23 after a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Golden Gate October 24 and a maiden win in his debut. Karma King steps up in graded stakes company Saturday but looks ready having placed in all three career starts thus far.

Kobe's Back - finished second as 9-10 favorite last time out to Shared Belief in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes here November 11 after a win in the minor Willard L. Proctor Stakes also on this track in his debut June 15. He has been competitive in both career starts and more of the same is expected Saturday. Kobe's Back will have Joel Rosario in the reins Saturday.

Candy Boy - races in stakes company for the first time Saturday for trainer John Sadler. He broke maiden by 8 1/4 lengths at this distance last time out on this track in his fourth start after a second and a pair of fourths to start his career. Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens gets the call Saturday.

Brother Soldier - Craig Dollase trained colt is coming off a good third in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes on this track November 2 in his third career start. He won his first start and had a fourth in the Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita in October as well. Brother Soldier has done well on this track and could surprise Saturday.

Poker Player - Impressively won the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes on synthetic over Bashart at Keeneland October 6 after a MSW score and a fourth in a MSW in August. Last time out was a disappointment - an eighth, ten lengths back in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. The Wayne Catalano colt has won two of four starts and finished off the board in the others. He is a supplemental entry and switches surfaces for the CashCall.

Rankhasprivileges - Kenneth McPeek pupil has two career starts - a MSW score at Keeneland October 20 and a good third in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot November 23.

Sheikinator - Kenneth McPeek trained colt makes his stakes debut Saturday off a MSW score at this distance at Churchill Downs November 16. He debuted with a second in a MSW at Keeneland October 4.

Even Echo - has six career starts for trainer Myung Kwon Cho but has failed to place in any - a fifth in a MSW in his second career start was the highlight. He has raced in graded stakes company one time - a ninth in the Grade 1 FrontRunner at Santa Anita in September and has an eighth and a seventh respectively since.
