Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes comes our way this Sunday, April 14 from Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Three year old fillies will be featured as they dash seven furlongs on Keeneland's main track searching for the winner's share of the $150,000 purse.
The Beaumont Stakes has attracted a field of 11 females for race 8 on Keeneland's Sunday card. Post time is 4:42 PM. Let's take a brief glance into the credentials of all 11 combatants ahead of this Grade 2 stakes. The Beaumont will award 34 qualifying points to the $1 million Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks with 20 going to the winner.
Renee's Titan - Doug O'Neill trained filly is coming off her worst career performance - an eighth in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita March 2 to follow an impressive and somewhat surprising win in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez at 20-1 odds over the very impressive Beholder January 21. Before that she finished sixth in the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet in December and second to Midnight Ballet in the Sharp Cat Stakes November 11. Renee's Titan is owned by Zillah Reddam, who with husband J. Paul Reddam campaigned 2012 Derby winner I'll Have Another. She is trained by Doug O'Neill and will be ridden by Mario Gutierrez, the same team that had a little bit of success with I'll Have Another. She has two wins and two second place finishes in eight career starts and will be looking for a rebound performance Sunday.
Premier Steps - Irish bred Chad Brown trained filly had a win, a second and a third in five starts at home before debuting in North America with a sixth two back in the Grade 3 Miesque Stakes November 24 at Hollywood Park. Last time out was a win in the minor Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream January 27. She has placed in five of seven career starts and is considered a serious contender in the Beaumont.
Magical Moon - Albert Stall pupil finished fourth last time out in the minor Allen LaCombe Memorial at Fair Grounds March 2 to follow a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming on that same track February 10. She broke maiden in her second career start in August at Saratoga and finished third in last fall's Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes in her lone start over Keeneland's main track.
Judy In Disguise - British bred Simon Callahan trained filly has won four of six starts including both this year. Last time out was a win in the minor Sweet Life Stakes at Santa Anita February 16 after an Allowance score in her North American debut at Golden Gate February 2. She won her first two starts in England before shipping to North America.
Lady Banks - is a stakes winner - the Ruthless Stakes two back at Aqueduct January 12 followed a MSW score on that same track December 14. She debuted in November - a second in a MSW at Aqueduct and finished fourth last time out in her graded stakes debut - the Davona Dale at Gulfstream February 23. Lady Banks has been competitive last time out and has been ramping up her competition level - it wouldn't be a shock to see her victorious Sunday.
