Las Vegas, NV - Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky will be the scene of one of the final Road to the Kentucky Derby Championship series races this Saturday April 13. The Grade 1 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes represents one of the last chances for three year old Kentucky Derby hopefuls to earn 100-40-20-10 points for the first through fourth place finishers. The hopefuls will not only be after the valuable 100 qualifying points - a nice purse of $750,000 will also be on the line for those willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Keeneland's all weather track.
The Blue Grass Stakes has attracted a strong field of 14 Derby hopefuls with 1 Alternate Entry for race 10 on Keeneland's busy Saturday card. Post time is 5:40 PM. Uncaptured - Mark Casse trained colt enters the Blue Grass having won six of eight career starts - a fifth in October in the Grade 3 Grey Stakes being the his worst career effort. He is coming off a second in the Grade 3 Spiral Stakes behind Black Onyx March 23 at Turfway Park after a win in the Grade 3 Iroquois in October and a win in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes November 24 - both of those wins coming at Churchill Downs after his previous five starts were at Woodbine. He has two wins and a second in his last three starts against many of the Kentucky Derby contenders and should be in the mix Saturday.
Java`s War - Kenneth McPeek colt was fifth in his career debut but strung together two straight wins ahead of the Dixiana Breeders' Futurity including the Sunday Silence Stakes at Louisiana Downs in September. He was an OK third in the Dixiana behind Dynamic Sky in October but was sixth at the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs November 24. Last time out was a good second in his only start in nearly four months - a second in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby behind Verrazano March 9.
Rydilluc - comes into the Blue Grass on a three race win streak on turf - last time out being by far his most impressive. He recorded a win in the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream March 3 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream January 5 by 5 3/4 lengths and breaking maiden on turf November 25. He has three wins in four career starts.
Palace Malice - Todd Pletcher trained colt had been in the money in all five of his career starts before a disappointing seventh last time out in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds March 30. He had a good third 1/2 length back in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes February 23 after a win in a MSW in his second career start and a pair of second place finishes. He is absolutely needs a top 2 finish Saturday in order to qualify for the Kentucky Derby.
Dynamic Sky - has seven career starts with two wins, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was disappointing fourth in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby March 9 to follow a very good second in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes behind Falling Sky February 2, an impressive score in the Pasco Stakes over Sky Commander January 12 and an OK sixth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He had a very nice second in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland October 6 after two stakes races at Woodbine resulted in a win in the Simcoe Stakes September 3 and a third in his debut at the Vandal Stakes in July. He needs a good finish Saturday to assure himself a spot in the Run for the Roses.
Undrafted - has six career starts with two wins and four third place finishes. He enters having finished third in three straight stakes - last time out in the Grade 3 Swale at Gulfstream March 2, in the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes on February 2, the Gulfstream Park Derby January 1 as well as in the Willard L. Proctor Memorial in June at Hollywood Park. The wins came in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream in December and a MSW score in his debut at Keeneland April 26.
Charming Kitten - Todd Pletcher colt is coming off a good second in the Grade 2 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream March 3 after a nice win in the minor Kitten's Joy Stakes January 20 and a decent second in the Dania Beach December 15. He finished an ugly ninth in the Dixiana Breeders' Futurity after a third in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes in August and a maiden win in his debut at this distance at Saratoga July 28. He enters the Blue Grass in good form looking to secure his berth in the Run for the Roses next month.
My Name Is Michael - shipped in from Woodbine for the Sam F. Davis Stakes February 2 and finished a very respectable third after four starts in Ontario yielded a win, a second and a third place finish. He was a good second in the minor Display Stakes December 1 in his stakes debut at Woodbine. Last time out was his worst career effort however -an eighth in the Grade 3 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park March 23.

Balance the Books - Chad Brown trained colt looked mighty impressive in winning the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga August 30 and the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland October 7 but has fallen off a tad since. A third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf was followed by an ugly eleventh last time out in the Grade 3 Spiral Stakes march 23 after a 4 1/2 month layoff.
West Hills Giant - had two straight wins in the summer - a MSW at Saratoga in his second career start was followed by a nice win in the New York Breeders' Futurity September 29. He had a disappointing seventh in his graded stakes debut in the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park in October but had a third in the minor Java Gold Stakes at Aqueduct February 10 and a very good second last time out in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes also at Aqueduct March 2.
Footbridge - will race in stakes company for the first time Saturday after four MSW races produces a win last time out, a pair of seconds and a third place finish in his career debut - all results at Santa Anita.
Fear The Kitten - Michael Maker trained colt has been competitive in his six race career with two wins, a second and a third place finish. But last time out was his worst career performance - a fifth in the Grade 3 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park March 23. He had a second in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park February 18 after a third in the Grade 3 LeComte January 19 at Fair Grounds to prove he can compete with the best. He is one of the horses on the bubble for a berth in the Derby and will be looking for a good result Saturday.
Channel Isle - D. Wayne Lukas trained colt has two wins, a second and a third place finish in nine career starts but has won two Allowance races in his last five starts. He made his stakes debut with a twelfth in the Remington Springboard Mile and was a respectable fourth in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park February 18. Last time out was a disappointing seventh in the Grade 3 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park March 23.
Tesseron - was fourth in the competitive Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes behind Dewey Square and had a nice second place finish before that in the Grade 2 Grey Stakes at Woodbine October 7. Last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream February 23. He broke maiden in his career debut in September at Woodbine in his only other start.
