Las Vegas, NV - Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky will be the scene of a graded stakes race for the third Friday in a row when it hosts the Grade 3 Doubledogdare Stakes April 19. The race will feature fillies and mares four years old and upward as they go 1 1/16 miles on Keeneland's dirt track for a purse of $100,000.
A field of eight females will line up in the Doubledogdare Stakes - race 9 on Keeneland's Friday schedule. Post time is 5:13 PM. Let's teak a brief glance into the past performances of all eight combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.
Inglorious - Queens Plate winner and Canada's champion three year old filly and runner up for horse of the year in 2011 had four starts in 2012 - a third in the Grade 2 Bayakoa at Hollywood Park December 8, a third in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine way back on July 8 after a disappointing fourth in the Grade 2 Nassau and a second to fellow Marketing Mix in an Allowance race at Keeneland. Her only start of 2013 resulted in yet another OK third in the Grade 3 Suwannee Stakes at Gulfstream February 6. She has five wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 14 career starts and enters the Doubledogdare in decent form.
Mystical Star - won the Grade 2 New York Stakes June 30 over Hit It Rich but sandwiched around that win were a couple of unflattering eighths - the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes in May and the Grade 1 Beverly D August 18. She had a good second in the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster in October here and was second in the Grade 3 Long Island Handicap at Aqueduct November 10. Last time out was another OK outing - a third in the Grade 3 Hillsborough at Tampa Bay Downs March 9. She has placed in her last three starts - all graded stakes races and has to be on the radar for the Doubledogdare.
Artemus Kitten - Michael Maker trained mare is coming off a nice win in the minor Jersey Lilly Stakes at Sam Houston March 2 - her best result in some time. Before that was a fifth in the minor Marie G. Krantz Memorial at Fair Grounds January 26 and an OK second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Turfway Park in November. She has five wins, four seconds and two third place finishes in 18 career starts.
Ice Cream Silence - had been on quite a role before a lengthy layoff with three wins and a second in four starts. After a second and a sixth place finish to start her career, Ice Cream Silence has rattled off three straight wins including the minor Optimistic Gal Stakes at Churchill Downs in May. She had a nice second in the Iowa Stakes way back in June and then nine months off. Her return came March 17 - a disappointing seventh in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream.

Lotta Lovin - is coming off a nice win in the minor Likely Exchange Stakes at Turfway Park January 19 after a decent third in the Holiday Inaugural Stakes also at Turfway December 1. She last raced in graded stakes company in October - a distant ninth in the Grade 2 Raven Run on this track. The Michael Maker filly has seven wins, a second and a third place finish in 18 career starts and enters in decent form.
Alaura Michele - is a multiple stakes winner for trainer Dale Romans that has struggled lately -a sixth last time out in the Grade 3 Hillsborough at Tampa Bay Downs March 9 followed a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream February 7 and a tenth in the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes in October. Before that was a sixth at the Given Stakes and a third in the Riskaverse Stakes. She had two wins in three races early in 2012 - the P.G. Johnson and Nani Rose Stakes and has three wins and one third place finish in 10 career starts. But Alaura Michele has failed to place in her last four starts overall.
Sisterhood - Wesley Ward trained filly races in graded stakes company for the first time Friday but has not been at her best the last couple of outings. Last time out was a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream January 6 after a seventh in the minor South Beach Stakes also at Gulfstream December 9. She has just three wins and a second place finish in 14 career starts.
Minakshi - French bred fill makes her North American debut Friday after 13 starts overseas resulted in four wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was an OK second November 5 to follow and Allowance score at Maisons-laffitte in September.
