2013 Red Bank Stakes Race Favorites

Za Approval - raced in stakes company for the first time in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes February 23 and finished fourth and followed that with a very nice win in the Grade 3 Appleton Stakes at this distance at Gulfstream March 30. He had won three of five starts coming into the Canadian Turf including an Allowance Optional Claiming score by a nose at Gulfstream over Joes Blazing Saddles January 5. He is the most accomplished entry and has fared the best against top competition of any of the starters and has to be the favorite Saturday.

Javerre - has 10 career starts and has placed in all - five wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. He had a win in the New Jersey Breeders Handicap in September and a nice win in the Grade 3 General George Handicap two back at Laurel Park. Last time out was an OK third in the minor Harrison E. Johnson Memorial at Laurel Park March 16. He tries turf for the first time but is expected to do well Saturday.

Red Bank Stakes 2013 | Remaining Field Entries

Tune Me In - came out of nowhere and won the Grade 3 Oceanport on July 29 and followed that win another impressive score in this track in the Grade 3 Cliff Hanger in September. He followed that with an OK third in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes in October, a fifth in the minor If Winter Comes Stakes and an ugly twelfth last time out back in December in the El Prado Stakes. He has shown form in the past - it would be no shock to see him come across the line first.

Finale - Todd Pletcher trained colt has raced against some tough competition. He won the 2011 Grade 3 Summer Stakes but hasn't been the same since. He is coming off a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream March 30 after a pair of seconds in similar races on the same track this year. He has 14 career starts with four wins, three seconds and a third place finish.

Bad Debt - multiple stakes winner last won November 10 in the minor Bonnie Heath Turf Cup Handicap at Calder and has placed in four of seven starts since including a second in an Allowance last time out at Pimlico August 28 and a third in the Besilu Stables Turf Classic at Tampa Bay Downs April 6. He has a staggering 41 career starts with 13 wins, 10 seconds and nine third place finishes.

Hobbs - has won two of his last three starts ahead of the Red Bank including the Besilu Stables Turf Classic last time out at Tampa Bay Downs and an Allowance Optional Claiming February 2. He has a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming sandwiched in there as well. Hobbs has 13 career starts with five wins, four seconds and a third place finish but steps up in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday.

Ruler On Ice - main track only entry won the 2011 Belmont Stakes and was the third in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs that year to go along with numerous seconds and thirds at multiple graded stakes events.
