Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Salvator Mile Stakes goes down this Saturday, July 6 from Monmouth Park in the great state of New Jersey. Horses three years old and upward will go one mile on Monmouth Park's dirt track as they chase their share of the $150,000 purse.
A field of eight older horses will line up in the Salvator Mile - race 10 on Monmouth Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:29 PM. Let's take a look into the credentials of all eight combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.
Csaba - is a eight-time winner from South Florida and comes into the Salvator having won five of his last six starts - the Grade 3 Hal's Hope at Gulfstream January 13, the minor Harlan's Holiday here by 3 3/4 lengths over Delegation December 16, the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Handicap November 24 at Calder, the minor Tropical Park Derby by a stunning 14 lengths also at Calder October 13 and last time out in the minor Memorial Handicap at Calder May 25. The only blemish over that span was a fifth in the Grade 1 Donn Handicap in February at Gulfstream. He has been lightly raced this year but there is absolutely no denying his form the last nine months!
Discreet Dancer - Todd Pletcher trained colt had been very impressive - four wins and two third place finishes in six career starts before an ugly ninth last time out in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap. Before that was an OK third as even money favorite in the Carter Handicap behind Swagger Jack and Sahara Sky after a terrific win in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap by 5 1/4 lengths March 9 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score also at Gulfstream February 6 after an 11 month layoff. He also had a third in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream in February of 2012. Discreet Dancer lines up as another uber-quality entry for the Salvator and is another one to watch Saturday in his first ever start at Monmouth.
Lucy's Bob Boy - Sandra Dono trained gelding has been spectacular against lesser competition - 16 career starts with 13 wins and three second place finishes. He has won five straight races and 11 of 12 starts overall but races for the first time away from Charles Town on Saturday. He makes a much anticipated graded stakes debut Saturday and could surprise the field with his front-running style.
Bowman's Beast - has just five career starts for trainer Cathal Lynch with four straight wins entering the Salvator and a second place finish in his debut- all results coming at Parx. He steps up in stakes company for the first time Saturday but certainly has some momentum behind him.
Big Sur - has 28 career starts with five wins, five seconds and nine third place finishes but last time out was his stakes debut - a nice win in the minor Majestic Light Stakes here May 25 in gate-to-wire fashion. He also has a Starter Allowance score this year. Saturday marks Big Sur's graded stakes debut for trainer Ramon Moya but he enters in decent form.

Private Tale - Michael Trombetta trainee has six wins, three seconds and two third place finishes and is coming off a seventh in the minor Donald LeVine Memorial at Parx June 22. He won the minor Native Diver Stakes in January for his best career result and has placed in three of four starts in 2013. He breaks from post 8 and is expected to put on a typical late charge in the Salvator.
Raging Daoust - makes his graded stakes debut Saturday having won two of his last three starts including an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track June 8. Before that was a fifth in his only stakes action - in the minor Decathlon Stakes also here May 11. Raging Daoust has eight wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 18 career starts but takes an enormous leap in competition Saturday. He is 5-0-0 on this track and breaks from the rail in the Salvator.
Small Town Talk - hasn't raced since November 22 - a fourth in the Grade 3 Fall Highweight Handicap at Aqueduct. Before that he finished third behind Gourmet Dinner and Ponzi Scheme in the Majestic Light Stakes in his stakes debut last July and followed that with a decent third in the Grade 3 Philip Iselin in August and a second in the Frank "Pancho" Martin Stakes October 19. He has three wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 13 career starts. His last two wins have come on this track but rust could certainly be a factor in the Salvator.
Race 10 on Monmouth Park's Saturday card with a Post Time of 5:29 PM.
