Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Sapling Stakes is on tap for this Sunday, September 1 from Monmouth Park on the Jersey Shore. A purse of $100,000 will be on the line for two year old hopefuls willing to dash six furlongs on Monmouth's dirt track.
A field of seven two year olds will line up in the Sapling Stakes - race 11 on Monmouth Park's Sunday schedule. Post time is 6:04 PM. Let's take a look into the past performances of all seven combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.
Debt Ceiling - is the most experienced of the entries with four career starts and three impressive wins for trainer John Robb. Last time out however was a disappointing last place finish as favorite in the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes for his worst career effort. Before that was a terrific statement 2 3/4 length win in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes over Hollywood Talent at Churchill Downs to follow a good win in the minor Rollicking Stakes at Pimlico May 18. He started his career March 30 and scored an impressive MSW win at Laurel Park. Debt Ceiling has won three of four starts, hopes to rebound Sunday as the co-highweight and breaks from post 3 with regular rider Eric Comacho in the saddle.
All in Blue - Todd Pletcher trained colt is coming off a fourth place finish after stumbling at the start in his graded stakes debut - the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga July 21 after a five furlong MSW score by an impressive six lengths in his only other career start. He should give his stable mate a run Sunday and rebound from what was deemed an uncharacteristic run in the Sanford.
Yes I'm Lucky - Edward Plesa trained colt has three career starts and three wins including two minor stakes scores in his last two starts - the Tyro Stakes here August 4 and the Frank Gomez Stakes by four lengths at Calder June 22. He started his career with a MSW score on this track June 2 and is just one of two stakes winners in the field. He has been mighty impressive in his short career and hopes for his first graded stakes triumph Sunday.

Dunkin Bend - Steve Asmussen pupil broke maiden last time out in his second career start by a nice 5 3/4 lengths at Saratoga August 3 after a second in a similar race at Churchill Downs June 30.
Cee `n O - has just one career start for trainer Dale Romans - a MSW score at Ellis Park August 3 by 4 1/2 lengths. He is a bit of a wild card but looked good in his only career action.
Foileen - has two career starts for trainer Derek Ryan - both at Monmouth Park. Last time out was a Maiden Claiming score August 9 after a fifth in his debut - a MSW at Colonial Downs June 16. He is likely the longest shot in the field.
