Las Vegas, NV - The not yet graded Sam Houston Ladies Classic is on tap for this Saturday, January 26 from Sam Houston Park in - you guessed it - Houston, Texas. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be featured in this new race as they go 1 1/16 miles on Sam Houston's for the track's richest purse - $400,000.
A field of six females has been confirmed for the Sam Houston Ladies Classic. It is race 9 on Sam Houston's Saturday schedule with a post time of 9:45 PM. Let's take a brief glance into the past performances of all six combatants ahead of this yet-to-be-graded race.
Joyful Victory - won the Tiffany Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds on February 11 and had very impressive wins in the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes and the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes in 2011. The Larry Jones trainee has placed in the last seven starts including a third last time out in the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap November 22, a second in the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes, a second in the Grade 1 Zenyatta, a second in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes, a third in the Grade 3 Azeri Stakes and that win in the Tiffany Lass. She has been at or near the top in almost every race she entered in 2012 and Saturday figures to be no different.
Brushed by a Star - had three straight wins in the summer including the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher at Monmouth July 29, the Iowa Distaff Stakes on June 29 and another win at an Allowance at Churchill Downs on June 10. She had a little hiccup four back with a fifth in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign but she bounced back with a second in the Mari Hulman George Stakes, an impressive win in the Grade 2 Chilukki and a very good second last time out in the Grade 2 Falls City Stakes at Churchill Downs November 22. She and Joyful Victory have created quite a rivalry - Saturday marks another interesting chapter in the book!
Summer Applause - started her career with a sixth in a Maiden Special Weight race but has since recorded three wins, two seconds and a fourth place finish. Last time out Summer Applause was a fourth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks to follow a second in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks and a win in the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes on February 25. She has been good as of late and should give the two favorites a run Saturday.

She's All In - Had 10 starts in 2012 and has placed in eight - two third place finishes in the Pippin Stakes and the Bayakoa, a second in the Grade 3 Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn, a win in the Grade 3 Sixty Sails Handicap at Hawthorne on April 21, and three wins in her last four starts highlighted by a seven length win in the minor Oklahoma Classics Distaff Stakes last time out at Remington Park. She's All In has 14 wins in 29 career starts and appears to be in the best form of her career heading into the Ladies Classic. She's All in is just another that enters the Ladies Classic in very fine form.
Sisterly Love - Only has three career starts - no stakes action but she has won all three - two Allowance races at Gulfstream and a MSW at Calder October 27.
Lookinforchange - has 19 career starts with five wins, three seconds and three third place finishes. Her only victory in the last 17 months came two back in an Allowance at Remington Park November 9 and she followed that with a second last time out in a similar race December 6. Lookinforchange makes her graded stakes debut Saturday and may just be in over her hear.
