Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Prioress Stakes goes down this Saturday, July 27 from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. Three year old fillies will be after the winner's portion of the $300,000 purse when they dash six furlongs on Saratoga's dirt track.
The Prioress has attracted a field of seven females to go in race 5 on Saratoga's Saturday card. Post time is 3:03 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all seven combatants for the first of the stakes races at Saratoga on a busy Saturday.
Kauai Katie - impressive Todd Pletcher trained filly has won six of eight career starts including the Matron Stakes at Belmont Park September 30 and the Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga August 12 before that. She was an OK fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in November but has been on fire of late - three straight wins in 2013 include the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes January 1, the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes January 26 and the minor Road Princess Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion April 21 at Aqueduct. Last time out was an OK third after stumbling at the start in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park May 27. She is the co-highweight in the Prioress, is 2-for-two at Saratoga and likely the favorite the Saturday.
So Many Ways - won a Maiden Special Weight race last June 9 at Parx and followed that up with a very impressive score in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stakes by four and a half lengths on July 20 and in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes in September to make it three straight wins to start her career - the latter two wins coming on this track. It took another three starts for So Many Ways to taste victory again - in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs May 3 after a fifth in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks and a third in the minor Primal Force Stakes at Gulfstream in March. Last time out was a respectable third in the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows June 29. She has four wins and two third place finishes in seven career starts including three graded stakes scores. She, like Kauai Katie is the co-highweight and is 2-for-two on this track.
Ju Ju Eyeballs - Jason Servis trained filly races in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. She is however in the midst of an impressive five race win streak - the last two being minor stakes action - the Just Smashing Stakes July 21 by 5 1/4 lengths and the Crank It Up Stakes June 15 - both results at Monmouth Park. Her other start this year was a reasonable second in a Claiming at Gulfstream Park. Despite racing against lesser competition, Ju Ju Eyeballs enters the Prioress as one of the hottest entries in the field, steadily improving and looking to make a name for herself.
Wildcat Lily - has raced 11 times already in 2013 and is coming off her biggest victory to date - in the Grade 3 Azalea Stakes at Calder July 6. She enters the Prioress having won four times in her last six starts and finishing second in the other two over that span. Her leap up in competition last time out was mighty impressive as is her current all around form. She has to be in the conversation based on those intangibles.

Lighthouse Bay - George Weaver trained filly makes her graded stakes debut Saturday after a win in the minor Jostle Stakes at Parx June 8. Before that was a respectable third in the minor Miss Preakness Stakes May 17 and a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming in April. She ended 2012 with a nice two race win streak as well - in the minor Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel Park in November and a MSW at Belmont Park in October. She has three wins a second and a third place finish in six career starts.
Irish Lute - Dallas Stewart trained filly finished a decent third in her only graded stakes action back on May 3 in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs and has run two Allowance Optional Claiming races since. Last time out was a win June 21 after a seventh June 1. She has eight career starts with two wins, three seconds and a third place finish.
Little Rocket - makes just her fourth career start for trainer Michael E. Hushion and her first graded stakes start. She began her career with two wins and went on to a fourth in her stakes debut - the Ruthless Stakes January 12 at Aqueduct. Last time out was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 3 after nearly six months away. She now has two wins and a second place finish in her four career starts.
