Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Sanford Stakes goes down this Sunday, July 21 from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. A group of two year olds will be after a little credibility when they dash six furlongs on Saratoga's dirt track for a purse of $200,000.
A field of 7 two year olds will line up in the Sanford Stakes - race 9 on Saratoga's Sunday schedule. Post time is 5:20 PM. Here is a brief glance into the limited past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
All in Blue - Todd Pletcher trained colt is one of the great hopes for his highly competitive trainer. All in Blue has just one career start and it was a good one - a MSW by 4 1/4 lengths score at Belmont Park July 4 in a five furlong race. He is the morning line favorite at 2-1 odds - typical for a horse coming out of the Todd Pletcher school of racing!
Debt Ceiling - could be the most accomplished of the entries although he only has three career starts with three impressive wins for trainer John Robb. Last time out was a terrific win in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes over Hollywood Talent at Churchill Downs to follow a good win in the minor Rollicking Stakes at Pimlico May 18. He started his career March 30 and scored an impressive MSW win at Laurel Park. He is the 5-2 second choice and rightfully so after annihilating his competition last time out in the Bashford Manor.
Wired Bryan - will race for just the second time on Sunday but is coming off a 5 furlong MSW score by 7 1/4 length in his debut at Belmont Park June 19. Former assistant to Todd Pletcher - trainer Michael Dilger will have John Velazquez in the saddle in the Sanford hoping get Wired Bryan's name on the radar. Trainer Dilger makes his Saratoga debut Sunday hoping for a good result over a pair of his mentors' best. Wired Bryan is the third choice at 5-1 odds.

Hollywood Talent - Wesley Ward trained colt has two career starts and is one of the two contenders with any stakes experience. He is coming off an OK second in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes behind Debt Ceiling at Churchill Downs June 29 after a MSW score in his debut at Keeneland April 19. He is listed as the co-fourth choice at 6-1 odds.
Yes Liz - has just one career start for trainer Todd Pletcher at this distance and it too was a MSW score by 3 3/4 lengths at Belmont Park July 3. She is the only filly entered in the Sanford but is also cross entered in the Schulerville Stakes Saturday and is 6-1 odds for the Sanford.
Jake's Magic Hat - Eddie Kenneally trained colt has just one career start so far - a MSW score by 2 1/4 lengths at Belmont Park June 21. He is excited to step up Sunday against some pretty tough competition. However Jake's Magic Hat is a long shot at 8-1 odds.
Southern Blessing - Steve Asmussen trained colt will be looking to make a little noise on Sunday after just one career start produces a MSW win at Belmont Park May 24. He is the longest shot in the field at 15-1 odds.
