Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Test Stakes is on tap for Saturday, August 24 from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York as part of the Travers Stakes undercard. The Test will feature three year old fillies chasing the winner's share of the $500,000 purse over six furlongs on Saratoga's dirt track.
The Test Stakes has attracted a strong field of nine sophomore fillies to go in race 9 on Saratoga's stacked Saturday card. Post time is 4:05 PM. Here is a brief look into the past performances of all nine combatants for this Grade 1 stakes.
Sweet Lulu - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has just three starts in her career but has three wins on those starts - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Del Mar, an Allowance score at Hollywood Park in June and a MSW win at Hollywood Park in May. She has proven to be very competitive but takes a huge step up in competition Saturday. She will have Julien Leparoux in the saddle from post 5 and may not be the biggest name but is somehow the 5-2 morning line favorite.
My Happy Face - Chad Brown trained filly has alternated runner-up finishes and wins in her seven career starts. She started her career with two MSW races and finished second and first by 21 1/4 lengths respectively before graduating to stakes action. She was second in the Grade 1 Frizette behind Dreaming of Julia in October, she won the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes in November, she finished second in the Grade 2 Forward Gal behind Kauai Katie in January and won the minor Lotka Stakes at Belmont Park after nearly five months away. Last time out... you guessed it - a second in the Grade 1 American Oaks on this track July 20. She hasn't raced much this year but is another strong threat in the Test Stakes. She is the 3-1 second choice for the Test and will have Joel Rosario in the saddle.
Lighthouse Bay - George Weaver trained filly made her graded stakes debut last time out and recorded an impressive win over Wildcat Lily in the Grade 1 Prioress at 21-1 odds on this track July 27 after a win in the minor Jostle Stakes at Parx June 8. Before that was a respectable third in the minor Miss Preakness Stakes May 17 and a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming in April. She ended 2012 with a nice two race win streak as well - in the minor Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel Park in November and a MSW at Belmont Park in October. She has four wins a second and a third place finish in seven career starts and should be challenge the favorites in the Test Saturday. She is the morning line third choice at 4-1 odds and will depart from post 6.
Wildcat Lily - has raced 12 times already in 2013 and is coming off a good second in the Grade 1 Prioress Stakes here July 27 to follow her biggest victory to date - in the Grade 3 Azalea Stakes at Calder July 6. She enters the Test having won four times in her last seven starts and finishing second in the other three over that span. She has been as solid and consistent as any of the Test entries and has to be in the conversation Saturday. John Velazquez get the mount from the far outside on Wildcat Lily - the 6-1 fourth choice on the morning line.

So Many Ways - won a Maiden Special Weight race last June 9 at Parx and followed that up with a very impressive score in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stakes by four and a half lengths on July 20 and in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes in September to make it three straight wins to start her career - the latter two wins coming on this track. It took another three starts for So Many Ways to taste victory again - in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs May 3 after a fifth in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks and a third in the minor Primal Force Stakes at Gulfstream in March. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 1 Prioress here July 27 after a respectable third in the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows June 29. She has four wins and two third place finishes in eight career starts including three graded stakes scores. She goes off at 10-1 odds from post 3, is two-for-two on this track and will have Rosie Napravnik guiding her.
Baby J - Patrick Reynolds trainee has seven career starts with three wins, a second and two third place finishes. Last time out was a true breakthrough - a win in the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park June 29. Other results include two Allowance Optional Claiming starts this year with a win May 8, a third June 14, a second to Kauai Katie in the Grade 2 Matron last fall at Belmont and a third in the Grade 3 Schuylerville here in September. She is 12-1 on the morning line and departs from post 2 with Javier Castellano aboard.
Irish Lute - Dallas Stewart trained filly finished a decent third in her only two graded stakes races - one back on May 3 in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs and the other coming last time out in the Grade 1 Prioress on this track July 27. She had a win June 21 in an Allowance Optional Claiming after a seventh in a similar race June 1. She has nine career starts with two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. Irish Lute has been listed at 12-1 odds and has drawn the rail for the Test.
Ju Ju Eyeballs - Jason Servis trained filly races in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. She is however in the midst of an impressive five race win streak - the last two being minor stakes action - the Just Smashing Stakes July 21 by 5 1/4 lengths and the Crank It Up Stakes June 15 - both results at Monmouth Park. Her other start this year was a reasonable second in a Claiming at Gulfstream Park. Despite racing against lesser competition, Ju Ju Eyeballs enters the Test as one of the hottest entries in the field, steadily improving and looking to make a name for herself. Despite all she goes off at 12-1 odds Saturday.
I'm Mom's Favorite - Anthony Dutrow trained filly won the minor Miss Preakness Stakes tow back over Lighthouse Bay May 17 at Pimlico for her second straight win and first stakes score. She had placed in all five career with three wins, a second and a third place finish before a fifth last time out in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park June 29. She has won three of five starts in. I'm Mom's Favorite departs from post 4 as the longest shot in the field at 20-1 odds.
