Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York will play host to the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes on Saturday, June 28. A purse of $300,000 will be on the line for three year old fillies willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Belmont Park's main track.
The Mother Goose Stakes has attracted a field of six to go in race 4 on Belmont Park's Saturday card. Post time is 2:53 PM. Let's take a peek into the past performances of all six entries for this Grade 1 stakes.
Untapable - Steve Asmussen trained filly enters on fire - three straight graded stakes scores - by 4 1/2 lenghts in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks last time out May 2, the Grade 2 Fair Ground Oaks March 29 and the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes on that same track in February. Her lone poor career performance came in the Breeders' Cup - an eighth place finish after two wins to start her career. Untapable has five wins and a third place finish in seven career starts and is the one to beat Saturday. She leave from the inside post with John Velazquez aboard for the fist time.
Stopchargingmaria - Todd Pletcher trained filly is coming off terrific win in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico May 16 after a fourth in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park April 5 and a career worst performance - a fifth in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes February 22. She also has a nice win in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30, an equally impressive win by 10 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes November 3, a third in the Grade 1 Frizette and a second in the Grade 1 Spinaway. Stopchargingmaria has four wins, a second and a third place finish in eight career starts and will be after a second straight win Saturday. Javier Castellano will be in the saddle aboard from the outside post.
House Rules - has seven career starts for trainer Allen Jerkins and finally broke maiden by 5 3/4 lengths January 17 in her fourth race. This after a second December 19, a seventh and a sixth respectively in his first two career starts. She enters off a disappointing sixth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park after a pair of good seconds - by a neck in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oak March 29 and behind Aurelia's Belle in the Grade 2 Davona Dale February 22. House Rules has one win and three seconds in her seven starts and will depart from the rail with Joel Rosario aboard.

America - legendary trainer Bill Mott will send out America who broke maiden in her second start - at Belmont Park October 9 and went on to a fifth in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30 and another fifth in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes on grass March 2. Last time out was - you guessed it - a fifth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyes Susan Stakes May 16 after a respectable third in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks March 29. She has placed in just two of six starts thus far - not great ahead of this weekend. America's rider Irad Ortiz was injured in a race Wednesday - his status is definitely up in the air.
Princess Violet - Michael Hushion trained filly has just three career starts with two wins and a second place finish. She steps into stakes company off an Allowance score on this track May 16 and after breaking maiden at Aqueduct April 6. She is an interesting entry for the Mother Goose and leaves from post 3 with Jose Ortiz guiding her.
Aqua Regia - Thomas Albertini trained filly has seven starts with two wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. She makes her stakes debut off a win in an Allowance on this track June 5. This followed a second in a similar race here May 2 and a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming in March. A win on this track has created a sense of optimism - she departs from gate 5 with Jose Lezcano aboard.
