Las Vegas, NV - The 75th summer season of Thoroughbred racing at Del Mar Race Track comes to an end Wednesday, September 3 when the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity is contested. A purse of $300,000 will be on the line for two year olds willing to go seven furlongs on Del Mar's All Weather Track.
A field of nine juveniles have been confirmed for the Del Mar Futurity - race 8 on Del Mar's Thursday card. Post time is 5:30 PM. Here is a peek into the past performances of all nine entries for this closing day Grade 1 stakes at Del Mar. California Chrome won this race last year and we all saw what that did for him!
Skyway - impressive Mark Casse trained colt has three career starts with two wins and a third place finish. Last time out was one of those wins - by an impressive 1 1/4 lengths in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes on this track August 3 after a third in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs in June and a maiden score at first asking - at Keeneland in April. Corey Nakatani has been tabbed to ride the 7-2 morning line favorite from the outside post.
Holiday Camp - another Bob Baffert pupil - he debuted with a maiden score at Santa Anita June 7 and then made a rather unsuccessful step up into stakes company last time out where he finished sixth in the minor Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes June 22. Holiday Camp looks to bounce back from that poor effort with Martin Garcia aboard from post 8 as the 9-2 slight second choice.
Henry's Holiday - is coming off a good second behind Skyway in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes on this track which followed an OK fourth in the minor Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes in June and a maiden score in his debut. The Doug O'Neill trained colt gets a second crack at Skyway and is seen to be possibly his biggest threat. Tyler Baze gets the mount from post 6 at 5-1 odds.
Iron Fist - Jerry Hollendorfer trainee is coming off a second in a MSW August 9 after a fourth in a similar race July 19 - both results on this track. Mike Smith has been tabbed to ride from post 5 as Iron Fist looks for his first ever victory Wednesday at 5-1 on the morning line.

American Pharoah - Bob Baffert will send out American Pharoah for just the second time. His first career start wasn't a good one - a fifth in a MSW on this track August 9. Victor Espinoza is in charge of getting American Pharoah on track when he lines up from the rail Wednesday at 6-1 on the morning line.
Red Button - Mark Glatt trained colt debuted June 20 and finished second in a MSW race at Santa Anita and followed that with a maiden score last time out - on this track July 26. Rafael Bejarano will be in the irons as Red Button looks for his first stakes score from post 7 at 8-1 odds.
Oh Newman - Philip D'Amato trained colt hits the track for just the second time off a third place finish in a MSW race on this track August 3. Aaron Gryder will be in the irons Wednesday from gate 2 at 8-1 odds.
Calculator - Peter Miller trained colt has two MSW starts in his career - a fourth last time out August 9 and a third in his debut - July 19 - both results on this track. He looks to get into the win column for the first time with Elvis Trujillo aboard from gate 4 at 8-1 on the morning line.
Inexcess Time - Walter Solis trained colt has a win and a third place finish in two career starts and is coming off a nice maiden score on this track August 3. He hopes to carry the momentum into his stakes debut - with Joe Talamo in the saddle of the 15-1 shot from post 3.
