Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes, formerly the Hollywood Prevue Stakes at Hollywood Park comes our way from Del Mar in sunny California this Saturday, November 15. Horses two years old will be featured as they chase the winner's share of the $100,000 purse for seven furlongs on Del Mar's All Weather Track.
Nine juveniles will take part in the Bob Hope Stakes - race 8 on Del Mar's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:00 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all nine entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
Prime Engine - Jerry Hollendorfer trained colt will try to remain perfect in his career - he has two wins in two starts. Last time out the win came in impressive fashion by 5 1/2 lengths in the minor Gottstein Futurity at Emerald Downs September 28 after a maiden score at first asking two weeks earlier. Hollendorfer's Shared Belief kicked off his championship campaign with a win in this race last year - he hopes for more of the same with his entry this year. Mike Smith has been tabbed to ride from post 4.
Story to Tell - Dan Hendricks trained colt has five career starts already with two wins, a second and a third place finish. His only off-the-board finish came two back in his only graded stakes action - a sixth in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes on this track in August. Before that were two wins and a second place finish including a second in the minor Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes in June and a win in the minor WL Proctor Memorial Stakes in July. He enters off an OK third in the minor Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita October 13. Joe Talamo gets the call aboard the 122 pound highweight and the most experienced entry in the field Saturday from post 2.
Sebastian's Heart - George Papaprodromou trained gelding has three career starts but makes his graded stakes debut Saturday. He enters off a respectable second in front of Story to Tell at 18-1 odds in the minor Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita October 13 after a Maiden Claiming score in his second start and a sixth in a MSW in his debut. He has steadily improved and will have Corey Nakatani aboard from the rail Saturday.
All Indians - will hit the track for the fourth time for trainer Robert Hess off a disappointing sixth in the minor Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita October 13, a maiden score by 2 1/4 lengths on this track September 3 and an eighth in his debut - also here in July. He is the only entry in the field with a career victory on this track. Kent Desormeaux gets the mount from post 7 Saturday.
