2014 Cotillion Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Untapable - Steve Asmussen trained filly enters off a very disappointing fifth against the males in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park July 27 after four straight graded stakes scores - the Grade 1 Mother Goose June 28, by 4 1/2 lenghts in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 2, the Grade 2 Fair Ground Oaks March 29 and the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes on that same track in February. Her only other poor career performance came in the Breeders' Cup - an eighth place finish after two wins to start her career. Untapable has six wins and a third place finish in nine career starts and looks for a strong bounce back Saturday. She leaves from post 8 with Rosie Napravnik in the saddle as the 7-5 morning line favorite.

Stopchargingmaria - Todd Pletcher trained enters on a terrific three race win streak - the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes last time out August 16, the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico May 16 and in dominating fashion in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks by five lengths July 20. Before the wins was a fourth in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park April 5 and a career worst performance - a fifth in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes February 22. She also had a nice win in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30, an equally impressive win by 10 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes November 3, a third in the Grade 1 Frizette and a second in the Grade 1 Spinaway. Sweet Reason - has three Grade 1 scores in eight career starts - five wins, a second and a third place finish overall. Her only off-the-board finish was a fourth beaten by only two lengths in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She started her career with two wins - the best of which came in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes by 5 3/4 lengths at Saratoga last September and followed that with a second behind the terrific Untapable in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont Park in October before her BC attempt. Last time out was another good win in Grade 1 Test Stakes which followed a score in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 7, a third in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct April 5 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score March 7. Sweet Reason will have Irad Ortiz in the saddle from post 2 ay 3-1 odds looking to make it three straight Grade 1 scores.

Her only off-the-board finish came in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs in May, which followed a second in the minor Instant Racing Stakes in April and a MSW score at first asking way back in September. Joint Return - John Servis trained filly raced in graded stakes company for the first time March 29 and had her worst career effort - a fifth in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks but bounced back with a win in the minor Calder Oaks April 12. She enters off a pair of good seconds - last time out in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga August 16 and behind Fortune Pearl in the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks July 5. Before that was a win in the minor Our Mims Stakes June 4 and a troubled fourth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes May 16 at Pimlico. She also had a 4 1/2 length win in the minor Busher Stakes at Aqueduct February 1 after a pair of wins at Parx this past winter. Joint Return has won five of 10 career starts with two seconds and a third place finish but will be looking to break through in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. Kendrick Carmouche has the call from post 4 at 10-1 on the morning line.

Cassatt - has just four career starts for trainer Larry Jones and has looked good in all however - three wins and a second place finish. Cassatt stepped into stakes company for the first time last time out and impressively won the Grade 2 Monmouth Oaks after winning her two previous races - an Allowance at Delaware Park in July followed a maiden score at Fair Grounds in January. She looks to keep the roll going as the uber-hyped filly goes with Kerwin Clark in the saddle from the rail at 12-1 odds.

Vero Amore - has 11 career starts with two wins, three seconds and a third place finish but hasn't been great her last three starts - a tenth last time out in the minor Tenski Stakes at Saratoga August 11 followed an eighth in the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks in July and a twelfth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes in June. Before that was a second behind Stopchargingmaria and ahead of Joint Return in the Grade 2 Black-Eyes Susan Stakes at 15-1 odds at Pimlico May 16. She did have two straight wins at Parx last year and a fourth in the Grade 2 Gazelle in April of this year as well. Jockey Frankie Pennington picks up the mount from gate 5 at 20-1 on the morning line.

Little Alexis - has just three career starts for trainer Carlo Vaccarezza - two wins and a third place finish. Last time out was a respectable third in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 2 after wins in the minor Cash Run Stakes at Gulfstream Park July 5 and a maiden score at first asking. She has looked good in her limited action and will have Joel Rosario in the reins from gate 6 ay 20-1.

House Rules - has nine career starts for trainer Allen Jerkins and finally broke maiden by 5 3/4 lengths January 17 in her fourth race. This after a second December 19, a seventh and a sixth respectively in his first two career starts. She enters off an Allowance score at Saratoga August 17 which followed an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park June 28, a disappointing sixth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park and a pair of good seconds - by a neck in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oak March 29 and behind Aurelia's Belle in the Grade 2 Davona Dale February 22.
