Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes comes our way from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday, July 26. Three year olds will take to Saratoga's main track and dash six and one half furlongs in search of the winner's portion of the $200,000 purse.
A field of nine sprinters will take to the track in the Amsterdam - race 8 on Saratoga's Saturday card. Post time is 4:57 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all nine entries for this Grade 2 stakes - a local prep for the Kings' Bishop Stakes on August 23.
Rock Fall - Todd Pletcher trained colt has just three career starts with two wins - two in a row ahead of this weekend. Last time out was an Allowance score at Belmont Park June 4 after he broke maiden by an astounding 9 1/4 lengths with a 103 Beyer Speed Figure May 11 in a six furlong test on that same track. Despite being lightly raced he does come with some hype. Javier Castellano rides from post 2 as Rock Fall steps up to stakes company for the first time as the 9-5 morning line favorite.
Coup de Grace - will race for the seventh time for trainer Larry Jones having won two of his three career starts - the minor Oh Say Stakes last time out at Delaware Park July 5 and a terrific win in the Grade 3 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct in April with a sixth in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens sandwiched in there. He also had a maiden win in his debut in November, an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream December 15 and a rather unsuccessful step up in competition where he finished tenth in the Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes. He has been looking good the last four months and will have Rosie Napravnik in the irons for the first time from post 4 as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.
Captain Serious - Michael Hushion pupil has four career starts with three wins and a second - all as favorite. He made his graded stakes debut last time out and finished a good second behind Kid Cruz in the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes after an impressive win in his stakes bow - the minor Mike Lee Stakes, an Allowance score April 26 and a MSW win at first asking April 5. He has been terrific thus far, especially at sprint distances and will have Jose Ortiz in the irons from gate 8 at 4-1 odds.
Noble Moon - was last seen running sixth in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial on April 5 after an impressive two length win in the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes January 4 and after a third behind Cairo Prince after getting bumped at the start in the one mile Grade 2 Nashua Stakes November 3. His debut was a 6 furlong MSW score by three quarters of a length at Belmont Park September 14. Noble Moon has two wins and a third place finish in four career starts and hits the track for the first time in nearly four months Saturday in his first sprint since his debut. Irad Ortiz has the mount from post 7 at 8-1 odds.
C. Zee - Nick Zito trained colt has hit the board in eight of nine career starts - the only off-the-board finish came February 22 in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth. Before that he finished second in the Grade 3 Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream and second in his stakes debut - the minor Spectacular Bid Stakes in January. He has two wins and two thirds since - a win last time out in the minor Cherokee Run Stakes July 5 followed a third in the minor Unbridled Stakes May 31, a win in the minor Sir Bear Stakes May 3 and a third in the minor Ocala Breeders' Sales Sophomore Stakes in April. He has been competitive every time out and will have Luis Saez in the saddle from the rail at 10-1.

Tiznowforamerica - Thomas Albertini trained colt has six career starts with two wins and a third place finish. He is coming off an Allowance score at Belmont Park July 3 after a fourth in a similar race June 2. Tiznowforamerica has two career graded stakes starts with poor results - twelfth place finishes in the Grade 2 Nashua River Stakes in November and in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity in October. He looks to generate a little success in stakes company with Joel Rosario aboard from post 5 at 10-1 odds.
Casiguapo - had an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park October 5 after a very good graded stakes debut - a second behind Strong Mandate in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga September 2. He has been up and down since - last time out was a good second in the minor Cherokee Stakes at Gulfstream July 5 followed a sixth in the minor Sir Bear Stakes in May and a ninth in the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland in April. He also had a good second in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot November 23. Casiguapo enters in so-so form and will have Jose Lezcano in the reins from post 3 at 15-1 odds.
John's Island - will make his graded stakes debut Saturday after seven career starts yielded three wins and a second place finish. He has won three of his last four ahead of this weekend - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out, an Allowance score May 17 and a MSW in April with a fourth in his stakes debut sandwiched in there - the minor Mike Lee Stakes at Belmont Park May 31. He looks ready for his step up and will have Angel Arroyo aboard from gate 6 at 20-1 odds.
Big Guy Ian - Michael Dilger trained colt has five career starts with a win and a third place finish and races in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. He is coming off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming June 25 after a fourth in his stakes debut - the minor Sir Bear Stakes at Gulfstream in May.
