Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 TVG Coaching Club American Oaks is on tap for Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York this Sunday, July 20. A purse of $300,000 will be on the line for three year old fillies willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Saratoga's dirt track.
Six three year old fillies will take part in the Coaching Club American Oaks - race 10 on Saratoga's Sunday schedule. Post time is 6:04 PM. Let's take a peek into the past performances of all six combatants for this Grade 1 stakes - one that will sadly be missing Untapable.
Stopchargingmaria - Todd Pletcher trained filly is coming off terrific win in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico May 16 (she is now the only graded stakes winner in the field) after a fourth in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park April 5 and a career worst performance - a fifth in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes February 22. Prior to that she was very impressive - a nice win in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30, an equally impressive win by 10 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes November 3, a third in the Grade 1 Frizette and a second in the Grade 1 Spinaway. Stopchargingmaria has four wins, a second and a third place finish in eight career starts and will be after a second straight win Sunday but first Grade 1 score. Javier Castellano will be in the saddle aboard the 8-5 morning line favorite from the rail as Stopchargingmaria tries for her third win in her third start at 1 1/8 miles.
Unbridled Forever - has two wins and three third place finishes in six career starts - the wins including a maiden score November 30 and a nice win in the listed Silverbulletday Stakes at Fair Grounds in January. She has since posted three consecutive third place finished - behind Untapable in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks March 29, behind Beholder in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 2 and last time out in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 7. Unbridled Forever has placed in her last five starts and looks to better her string of thirds. Joel Rosario has the mount on the 9-5 second choice from post 2.
America - legendary trainer Bill Mott will send out America who broke maiden in her second start - at Belmont Park October 9 and went on to a fifth in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30 and another fifth in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes on grass March 2. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park June 28 after a familiar fifth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyes Susan Stakes May 16 and another respectable third in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks March 29. She has placed in just three of seven career starts - not great ahead of this weekend. John Velazquez gets the mount on the 5-1 third choice from gate 5.

Miss Besilu - Bill Mott also sends out Miss Besilu off an OK second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park June 19 after a sixth in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes April 5 and a terrible eleventh in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs March 8. She has two wins in seven career starts including an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream February 8 and before that had an OK second in the minor Ginger Brew Stakes also at Gulfstream - January 5. Miss Besilu has placed in just one of her last three starts and hopes to snap her funk from post 3 with Jose Lezcano aboard at 6-1 odds.
Taketheodds - Ian Wilkes trained filly has been very good in her four career starts - two wins, a second and a third place finish but Sunday marks her first journey into stakes company. She enters on a two race win streak - a maiden score in May and an Allowance win June 26 - both results at Churchill Downs. She makes a huge step up this Sunday as she stretches out with Brian Joseph Hernandez aboard from the outside post at 8-1 odds.
Courageous Julie - D. Wayne Lukas trained filly has two wins and two third place finishes in nine career starts and is coming off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Churchill Downs June 26. Before that was a third in an Allowance and a trio of off-the-board finishes in stakes action - a sixth in the minor Edgewood Stakes May 2 followed a fifth in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park in April and a fourth in the Grade 3 Honeybee on that same track in April. She looks to place in stakes company for the first time Sunday but looks in deep in this one. Luis Saez will guide the longest shot in the filed - 15-1 odds from post 4.
