Las Vegas, NV - Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York will play host to the Grade 1 Forego Stakes on Saturday, August 30. Horses three years old and upward will be featured when they go seven furlongs in search of the winner's share of the $500,000 purse and an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Sprint in November.
A field of 10 sprinters will take to the track in the Forego Stakes - race 10 on Saratoga's stacked Saturday schedule. Post time is 6:12 PM. Let's take a peek into the past performances of all 10 entries for this Grade 1 stakes.
Clearly Now - Canadian Invader has 15 career starts and had eight starts in 2013 and placed in all but one - a fifth in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile back on November 30 being the lone blemish. He had a great win before that in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler October 26, a second in the Grade 3 Gallant Bob at Parx September 2, a second in the minor Charlie Barley Stakes at Woodbine July 6, and an impressive win in the Grade 3 Swale Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths at Gulfstream March 2. Clearly Now has four starts in 2014 - two third place finishes - in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes May 3 followed a third in the Grade 1 Carter Handicap in April and one win - that coming last time out by an uber-impressive 6 1/4 lengths in track record time in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship July 5. He has been in the money all but twice in his career - competitive virtually every time out especially at seven furlongs where he is 3-for-3. Jose Lezcano will ride Clearly Now from gate 8.
Palace - impressive Linda Rice trained colt has two wins and two seconds in five starts this year - a fourth in the Grade 3 General George Handicap in February being his only off the board finish. Last time out was a win in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap August 2 after a second behind Clearly Now in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship July 5 and a win in the Grade 2 True North Stakes in June. He has five wins and three seconds in his last nine starts overall - as competitive as they come right now. Cornelio Velasquez gets the call from post 6 looking to keep the roll going.
Falling Sky - George Weaver pupil is coming off a respectable third behind Palace in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap here August 2 after a win in the minor Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap at Parx in June and a couple of ugly performances - a tenth in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes and a seventh in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap. He has two graded stakes score in his career - the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint by 5 1/2 lengths in February and the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes in February, 2013. Falling Sky has two wins in his last five starts but has mixed in some awful results as well. He hopes to cure his inconsistencies Saturday when he departs from gate 7 with Edgar Prado in the irons.
Zee Bros - former Bob Baffert trained colt had six career starts with two wins and a second place finish before shipping to the UAE where he had three races at Meydan, failing to place in any. Last time out he returned to the States and finished second in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track August 13. He looks to place in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday when he leaves from gate 4 with Joel Rosario in the reins.

Vyjack - won his first four career starts including a pair of graded stakes scores at Aqueduct - the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes and the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes to start 2013. He then finished third in the Wood Memorial and was eighteenth in the Kentucky Derby for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. He has continued to be inconsistent - a sixth in the Haskell Invitational, an eighth in last year's Belmont Stakes and an eighteenth in last year's Kentucky Derby. Last time out was an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap here August 2 which followed a DNF in the Grade 2 Suburban and a ninth in the Grade 1 Met Mile here June 7. Irad Ortiz will be aboard from post 3.
Capo Bastone - Todd Pletcher colt has four starts this year with just one second place finish to show for it - an Allowance Optional Claiming two back at Belmont Park. He is coming off a fifth in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on this track August 2 and also had an eleventh in the Grade 1 Met Mile and a sixth in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes this year. Capo Bastone was at his best in 2012 when he finished a respectable third behind Shanghai Bobby in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile in November, and also had a third in the Grade 1 FrontRunner. Last year he won the Grade 1 King's Bishop Stakes here and was second in the Grade 3 Derby Trial Stakes - his only impressive results. Capo Bastone has three wins, two seconds and two thirds in 15 career starts but has placed in just one of his last six starts overall - not great. John Velazquez rides from the rail.
Weekend Hideaway - Philip Serpe pupil enters on a two race win streak - the minor John Morrissey Stakes on this track last time out August 15 and an Allowance July 11. Before that was a pair of thirds in minor stakes action at Belmont Park. He has two graded stakes starts in his career - a third in the 2012 Grade 3 Futurity Stakes and a fifth in the 2013 Grade 2 Hutcheson. Weekend Hideaway has 16 career starts with six wins, three seconds and three third place finishes and enters in decent form. Javier Castellano gets the call from post 9.
Confrontation - Barclay Tagg trained gelding has been impressive in his seven race career - five wins, a second and a third place finish. He makes his stakes debut on a two race win streak - both Allowance Optional Claiming with the last coming on this track August 8. Rajiv Maragh has been tabbed to ride the impressive prospect from the outside post.
Big Business - David Jacobson races in graded stakes company for the first time after 28 career starts produced 10 wins, eight seconds and four third place finishes. He has two wins and three seconds in his last five starts overall including runner up finishes in his last two - the minor John Morrissey Stakes here August 15 and the minor Evan Shipman Stakes also on this track July 31. Big Business looks for his first ever stakes score with Junior Alvarado in the saddle from post 2 - he appears to be in good form for his major step up.
Sensational Slam - has 34 career starts with 11 wins, six seconds and two third place finishes and has seven starts in 2014 with two wins and two seconds. Sensational Slam races in graded stakes company for the first time since a seventh in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap in March but does have two wins and a second in four starts since - the biggest of which was a minor stakes score - the Diablo Stakes at Belmont Park in May. He will be out to hit the board in graded stakes company for the first time in five tries - with Jose Ortiz in the saddle from post 5.
