Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Autumn Stakes comes our way from Woodbine in Toronto, Ontario this Sunday, November 9. Horses three years old and upward will take to Woodbine's All Weather Track and race 1 1/16 miles for a purse of $200,000.
A field of just six will line up in the Autumn Stakes - race 8 on Woodbine's Sunday schedule. Post time is 4:27 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all six entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
Midnight Aria - winner of the 2013 version of Canada's biggest race in wire-to-wire fashion at 16-1 odds - the Queen's Plate has just two starts since. After 13 months away he returned to action August 8 and posted a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here and followed that with an Allowance Optional Claiming score in gate-to-wire on this track September 28. Midnight Aria has 11 career starts with three wins, a second and five third place finishes and hopes to channel some of his Queen's Plate form as he steps into graded stakes company for the first time. Jesse Campbell will be in the reins from gate 5.
Lukes Alley - has eight career starts for trainer Josie Carroll with five wins and a second place finish - his latest effort being his career best - a win at 7-2 odds in the Grade 3 Durham Cup with a career best 97 Beyer Speed Figure on this track October 4. Before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track September 12, a second and another win respectively in another pair of Allowance Optional Claiming on this track. He will look to keep an impressive roll going (three wins on his last four starts) when he leaves from post 2 with Luis Contreras in the saddle as the 121 pound co-top weight.
Alpha Bettor - Sovereign Award winner as Canada's champion older horse of 2013 won this race last year during a streak of three wins in four starts. He started his year with an Allowance score in May, a third in the Grade 2 Eclipse Stakes on this track in June and another Allowance score here in July but has been largely disappointing since - failing to place in his last three starts overall. He enters off consecutive fourths - the Grade 3 Durham Cup October 4 and the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes September 13 which followed a sixth as favorite in the Grade 3 Seagram Cup in August - a race that he won in 2013. Alpha Bettor will be looking for a strong bounce back after three uncharacteristically poor performances with Justin Stein aboard from the rail. He will add blinkers again Sunday.

War Correspondent - Christophe Clement trained colt will race for just the second time this year - the first being a four length Allowance Optional Claiming score at Monmouth Park September 13. Before that he had four career starts in France where he posted two wins, a second and a third place finish. War Correspondent makes just his second start in 15 months Sunday with Patrick Husbands guiding him from post 3.
Are You Kidding Me - was last seen posted an OK third after leading the majority of the way in the Grade 3 Durham Cup here October 4 which followed a fifth in the Grade 2 King Edward Stakes in June and a fourth in the Grade 2 Eclipse Stakes here June 1. This after an impressive win - by four lengths in the Grade 3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park in September, 2013. Before that he raced to a second in the minor Toronto Cup and a fifth in the minor Charley Barley Stakes - both results on this track. He now has 16 career starts with three wins, three seconds and three third place finishes and has placed in just one of his last three starts overall. His Kent Stakes win was mighty impressive - he hopes to get back to that form Sunday. David Moran has the mount aboard the 121 pound top weight from the outside post.
Eirigh - will make his stakes debut Sunday for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez after 10 career starts produced two wins, a second and a third place finish. He enters on a two race win streak - an Allowance by 8 3/4 lengths last time out October 18 and a maiden score in September. Eirigh has been certainly been trending upward ahead of this race but makes an enormous step up in company. Eurico Rosa Da Silva gets the call from post 4.
Race 8 on Woodbine's Sunday card with a Post Time of 4:27 PM.
