Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York will play host to the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes on Saturday, September 26. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be featured when they take to Belmont Park's dirt track and race 1 1/8 miles searching for the winner's share of the $400,000 purse.
A field of six will give it a go in the Beldame Stakes - race 5 on Belmont Park's stacked Saturday card. Post time is 3:06 PM. Here is a peek into the past performances of all six entries for this Grade 1 stakes.
Wedding Toast 6-5 - Kiaran McLaughlin trained mare has placed in 10 of 11 career starts - seven wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She enters off a career best result however - a five length win in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes here June 6. It followed another win by four lengths in the Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes here May 9 - by four lengths. Before the wins were a fourth in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 4, a third in the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream February 21, a win in the minor Miami Shores Handicap in January and eight months away. She also had a terrific four race win streak early in her career - the best of which came in the Grade 3 Comely Stakes in November, 2013. Wedding Toast is used to being at or near the top - hopes are that she continues that trend Saturday on a track she's won four of five career starts - with Jose Lezcano guiding the morning line favorite from gate 2.
Curalina 3-1 - Todd Pletcher trained filly has been very good in her six career starts - four wins, a second place and a third place finish. She debuted last July and finished second and went on to four straight wins. She won the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks July 26 after wins in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 6, an Allowance Optional Claiming score by 8 1/4 lengths May 1 at Churchill Downs and a maiden score in March. Last time out was a third in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga August 22. Curalina looks to keep the impressive roll going in her first start against older competition when she lines up from the rail with John Velazquez aboard the morning line second choice.
Catch My Drift 5-1 - Chad Brown trained filly won the minor Summer Colony Stakes at Saratoga last time out August 24 and had a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming before that in June. She had three graded stakes starts in 2014 - the best of which was a second in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Handicap here in October - the others resulted in off-the-board finishes. Catch My Drift has nine career starts with four wins and two second place finishes and will be after her first graded stakes score from gate 4 with Irad Ortiz in the irons.
Hot Stones 6-1 - winner of the 2014 Bed o' Roses Handicap here in June has 17 career starts for trainer Bruce Levine with eight wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. She enters on a two race win streak- the minor Saratoga Dew Stakes by an incredible 9 1/4 lengths August 17 and an Allowance Optional Claiming here in June. Before that were consecutive fourth place finishes to start her year. Her other two graded stakes results were an eighth in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes a year ago and a third in the Grade 3 Shuvee Handicap in July, 2014. Hot Stones looks to be in good form heading into this weekend and will have Javier Castellano guiding her from post 3.

House Rules 10-1 - has looked good in 2015 - three wins, a second and two third place finishes in seven starts. She enters off her only off-the-board finish this year - a fourth in the Grade 3 Shuvee Handicap at Saratoga August 2. That result followed a third in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes here in June, a third behind Wedding Toast and Princess Violet in the Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes here May 9, a win in the Grade 3 Top Flight Handicap at Aqueduct April 11, a second in the Grade 2 Royal Delta Stakes in March and a two race win streak - the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths February 21 and the minor Bal Harbour Handicap by nine lengths January 2 - both results at Gulfstream. She also had runner-up finishes in graded stakes action last year - the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes and the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks. House Rules has six wins, four seconds and two third place finishes in 19 career starts enters in so-so form. Junior Alvarado has been tabbed to ride from the outside gate 6 Saturday.
Call Pat 15-1 - Brad Cox trained mare has 25 career starts with five wins, five seconds and three third place finishes - two wins, a second and a third place finish in eight starts this year. Last time out was a career best result - a win in the Grade 3 Groupie Doll Stakes at Ellis Park August 8. Before that was a second in the minor Mari Hulman George Stakes at Indiana Grand in July and a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming in June. Call Pat has shown significant improvement lately and will look to keep the upward trend going from post 5 Saturday with Luis Saez in the reins.
