Las Vegas, NV - A rare Wednesday graded stakes race comes our way from Del Mar in Southern California this Wednesday, August 12 when the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes is contested. Two year old fillies will take center stage on Del Mar's dirt track as they race 6 1/2 furlongs searching for the winner's share of the $200,000 purse.
A highly regarded field of eight juvenile fillies will take part in the Sorrento Stakes - race 7 on Del Mar's Wednesday schedule. Post time is 5:10 PM. Here is a peek into the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 2 stakes - all of which enter this race having won their previous start.
Right There - Keith Desormeaux trained filly has looked goods far in her short career - a win and a second place finish in her two career starts. Last time out was a good win in her stakes debut - the minor Landulace Stakes by an impressive 4 3/4 lengths at Santa Anita June 21 which followed a second at first asking in May. Kent Desormeaux will be in the saddle from the rail Wednesday as Right There looks to continue her upward trend.
Stays in Vegas - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly is the only other stakes winners in the field - her win came in her only career start - the minor Juan Gonzalez Memorial Stakes by a dominating six lengths at Oak Tree at Pleasanton July 4. Stays in Vegas looked great in that race and looks to keep the momentum going from the outside gate 8 with Rafael Bejarano guiding her.
Uptown Twirl - high-priced purchase will make just her second career start for trainer Peter Miller. Her first career start resulted in a nice maiden score at Santa Anita June 18. Uptown Twirl, like so many of the Sorrento runners will be after their first stakes score and second straight win overall when she departs from gate 6 with Victor Espinoza in the reins.
Pretty N Cool - intriguing and speedy Bob Baffert trained filly has cone career start and one win - a maiden score by 4 1/2 lengths on a sloppy track here July 19. She looks for two in a row Wednesday when she leaves from post 7 with Martin Garcia in the irons.

Undisputed - Simon Callaghan trained filly races for just the second time Wednesday off a half length maiden score in her only career start - at Los Alamitos July 4. Flavien Prat has been tabbed to ride Undisputed in her step up in competition from post 3.
Sooner Time - has just one career start for trainer Peter Eurton and it was a good one - a maiden score by 3 1/4 lengths on this very track July 23. She looked good in that start and hopes to carry her success in this setting over into stakes company Wednesday. Corey Nakatani gets the call from gate 4.
One True Kiss - Peter Miller trained filly races for just the second time Wednesday but enters off a good maiden score at Los Alamitos July 12. One true Kiss will try to make it two straight wins to start her career - from post 5 with Tyler Baze aboard.
Gomo - will hit the track for the third time for trainer Doug O'Neill having posted a win and a third place finish so far. She broke maiden last time out by 5 1/4 lengths at Santa Anita June 25 after a third place finish on that same track in her debut. Gomo makes her stakes bow Wednesday from gate 2 with Mario Gutierrez guiding her.
