Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Marshua's River Stakes is on tap for Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida this Saturday, January 10. Fillies and mares four years old and upward will be featured when they go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream's turf track for a purse of $150,000.

2015 Marshua's River Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Parranda - won the Millions Filly and Mare Turf Preview Stakes last November and the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf last January 18 on this track and went on to another win - in the Grade 3 Suwannee River Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion February 8 with a fourth in the Grade 3 My Charmer Handicap in December sandwiched in there. She enters off an OK sixth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf which followed a pair of good seconds - the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive Stakes September 27 and in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes September 1. She also had an OK third in the competitive Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes August 2 and yet another win in the Grade 2 Royal Heroine Stakes June 28. Parranda has placed in eight of her last 10 starts with four wins over that span, has six wins on this track and enters in very good form John Velazquez aboard the 123 pound highweight from gate 3.

Candy Kitten - Todd Pletcher trained filly has three wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 10 career starts and was at her best this time last year - a win in the minor Wait a While Stakes in November and the Ginger Brew Stakes in January (both in this track) were followed by a second in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes also on this track in March. She only has two starts since that race and they resulted in disappointing eighths - the minor Edgewood Stakes in May and the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes in April. She looks to end a slump Saturday in her first start in eight months - with Edgar Prado in the reins from post 5.

Summer Moon - French bred Chad Brown trained filly makes her North American debut Saturday having posted three wins and two seconds in seven starts at home. Last time out was a second in a stakes at Saint Cloud which followed consecutive Allowance scores. She hopes to carry her success at home into a strong career in North America. Strike Charmer - has 10 career starts for trainer David Carroll with three wins, three seconds and a third place finish. She enters off a good win in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Cardinal Handicap at Churchill Downs November 22 which followed a second in the minor Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes and a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming in August. Strike Charmer has been trending upward and is an intriguing entry this weekend. Chris Landeros rides from post 4.

Pappascat - has 12 career starts with four wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. She is coming off a respectable second in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Cardinal Handicap at Churchill Downs which followed a third in an Allowance in October and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in September at Churchill Downs. Pappascat enters in the best for of her career - from post 9 with Paco Lopez guiding her.

Ready Signal - has failed to place in her last four starts for trainer Amy Tarrant. Last time out was a fifth in the minor South Beach Stakes on this track December 13 after an eighth in the minor Fasi-Tipton De Ls Rose Stakes in August, a seventh in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes and a fourth in the Grade Churchill Distaff Turf Mile. This after two straight minor stakes scores - the Powder Break Stakes April 5 and the Ten Palmas Stakes in February - both results at Gulfstream. She has 23 career starts with four wins, two seconds and two third place finishes and enters in less-than-spectacular form. Ready Signal leaves from post 6 with Leandro Goncalves aboard.

Scampering - Shug McGaughey trained was last seen running third in the minor Lady Baltimore Stakes at Laurel Park in September which followed a seventh in the Grade 3 Violet Stakes, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Saratoga in July and a fourth in the Grade 2 New York Stakes in June. She has yet to place in four graded stakes tries and will look to reverse that trend Saturday. Overall Scampering has 17 career starts with four wins, three second and three thirds - she leaves from gate 6 with Javier Castellano aboard.

Skylander Girl - finished second in four straight races this past summer including the OLG Algoma Stakes in August, the minor Wonder Where Stakes two weeks earlier and the minor Ontario Damsel Stakes in July - all at Woodbine. She has been up and down since - a sixth last time out in the minor South Beach Stakes here December 13 followed a third in the minor Jammed Lovely Stakes in November, an Allowance Optional Claiming score and a third in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes in September - the last three at Woodbine. She won two minor stakes races in 2013 but looks for her first graded stakes score Saturday. Skylander Girl has 18 career starts with three wins five seconds two third place finishes and will start from the rail with Luis Contreras aboard.

Why Katherine - Kevin Attard trained mare had a string of runner-up finishes in the summer of 2013 including the Grade 3 Royal North Stakes and placed in her first five starts of 2014 - seconds in the minor Zadacarta Stakes and the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine and an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track being the best results. She has failed to place in her last three starts overall however - an eighth in the minor South Beach Stakes on this track last time out followed a pair of fourths - the minor Avowal Stakes in September and the Grade 3 Violet Stakes at Monmouth in August. She has 22 career starts with four wins, six seconds and two third place finishes and will hope to get back to her early 2014 form. Alette - Chris Block trained mare has 16 career starts with six wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She enters off her career best result - a win in the minor Illini Princess Handicap at Hawthorne November 15 which followed a tenth in the Grade 3 Modesty Handicap - her only graded stakes start to date. Before that was a second in the minor Lincoln Heritage Handicap and an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Arlington in May. Alette has won two of her last four starts and looks to break through in graded stakes company - from the outside post with Jose Lezcano in the irons.
