2015 Rampart Stakes Race Favorites

Cali Star - Martin Wolfson trained filly makes her graded stakes debut having posted three wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 17 career starts. She enters off an uber-impressive five length Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream Park West November 18 in her first start for her new trainer, an eighth in a similar race at Keeneland October 2 and consecutive third place finishes in Allowance Optional Claiming races in the summer. She has just one stakes start which resulted in a runner-up finish in the minor Pago Hop Stales at Fair Grounds in December, 2014. Cali Star has placed in three of her last four starts overall and is expected to be in the mix again after looking great in works leading up to this race. Tyler Gaffalione has the mount from the rail.

Best Behavior - won a Starter Stakes on this track last December and went on to a respectable second in the minor Miami Shores Handicap here in January. She struggled after that - a fifth in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes here in March followed a tenth in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie Handicap in February. Best Behavior has regained her form lately - a win last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming in July followed a second in the minor Barely Even Handicap in June, a third in the minor Sea Lily Handicap May 30 and a second in the minor Sunrise Stakes May 3 - all results on this track. Best Behavior looks for her first graded stakes score Saturday and enters in pretty good form at a distance she's recorded two wins and a second place finish in three starts. John Velazquez has been tabbed with keeping the upward trend going from post 7 in her first race since July.

Rampart Stakes 2015 | Remaining Contenders

Curlin's Princess - Martin Wolfson trained filly will race in graded stakes company for the first time on Saturday. She has eight career starts with two wins, a second and three third place finishes and has placed in her last four starts overall - all Allowance Optional Claiming races. Last time out was a third behind Cali Star and Danessa Deluxe at Gulfstream Park West November 18 after a win here September 18 with an eye-opening 100 Beyer Speed Figure and consecutive thirds also on this track. Curlin's Princess has been competitive so far and hopes to keep the trend going in her step up in competition. She leaves from gate 4 with Luis Saez aboard.

Legal Laura - Kathleen O'Connell trained filly has 15 career starts with five wins, two seconds and five third place finishes and enters off a career best performance - a win by 2 1/2 lengths in the minor Millions Distaff Preview Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 7. That result followed a second and a third respectively in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races and a third in the minor Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park in August. Legal Laura has certainly been trending upward ahead of this races and steps into stakes company for the first time - from post 5 with Paco Lopez guiding her.

Stiffed - won the minor Monmouth Beach Stakes in her second stakes start - back in May and followed that with a good second in the Grade 3 Molly Pitcher Stakes on that same track in July - her graded stakes debut. Stiffed has been up and down since - a sixth last time out in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Handicap at Belmont Park October 30 followed a good win in the minor Jersey Girl Handicap in September and a fourth in the minor Lady's Secret Stakes in August. Stiffed now has five wins, a second and two third place finishes in 14 career starts and looks for her first graded stakes score from post 2. Orlando Bocachica gets the call.

Danessa Deluxe - had two wins and two seconds in her first four career starts and went on to a fourth in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Princess Stakes in November, 2013, a third in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks here in March, a fourth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes in May and a seventh in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes in June. Last time out was a second behind Cali Star in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream Park West November 18 which followed a fifth in a similar race in September. Danessa Deluxe looks for her first stakes score Saturday but enters in less-than-spectacular form. Edgard Zayas will be in the saddle from gate 6.

Moment of Delight - has three runner-up finishes and a third place finish in her first four stakes starts - all in Florida. She enters off a fourth in the minor Millions Distaff Preview Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 7 after her only stakes score - the minor Florida Sire Jewel Princess Stakes on this track in September. Before that were off-the-board finishes in a pair of minor stakes races on this track and a sixth in the Grade 3 Azelia Stakes in July - her only graded stakes action to date. Moment in Delight now has three wins, four seconds and a third place finish in 13 career starts but has placed in just one of her last five starts overall. She tries for her first graded stakes score from the outside gate 8 with Juan Leyva in the reins.

Pink Poppy - won the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf in January but followed that with consecutive eleventh place finishes and a tenth - all in stakes action. She hasn't been all that great lately either - a sixth last time out in the Grade 3 My Charmer Handicap November 21 at Gulfstream Park West followed a third in the minor Lady Baltimore Stakes at Laurel Park September 12, a sixth in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 8 and an OK third in the Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Handicap at Parx in July.
