Las Vegas, NV - The horse racing world will be focused on Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky this Saturday, October 31. On the schedule is the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Horses three years old and upward will be featured when they take to Keeneland's turf track and race 5 1/2 furlongs for a purse of $1 million.
A competitive full field of 14 plus two Also Eligibles will take to the track in the Turf Sprint- race 4 on Keneeland's stacked Breeders' Cup Saturday card. Post time is 12:45 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all 16 possible entries for this intriguing Grade 1 Breeders' Cup stakes.
Lady Shipman 5-2 - Kathleen O'Connell trained filly has looked very good in her 11 race career - eight wins (six stakes), a second and two third place finishes but Saturday marks her graded stakes debut. Last time out was a second in the minor Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes on this track October 9 after four straight minor stakes scores this past summer. She has been impressive so far and hopes a step up in competition won't slow her down. Irad Ortiz gets the call aboard the morning line favorite from post 5.
Undrafted 4-1 - finished third in this race last year and has placed in all four starts since. Last time out was a second in the $300,000 minor More Than Ready Mile at Kentucky Downs September 5 after a win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal Ascot, a second in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs in May and a third in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes on this track in April. Undrafted has five wins, three seconds and eight third place finishes in 21 career starts and has placed in six straight races ahead of this weekend. Jockey Lanfranco Dettori will try to maintain that trend from post 3 Saturday.
Pure Sensation 6-1 - Christophe Clement trained gelding has 13 career starts with four wins, four seconds and two third place finishes. He enters off a career best effort - a win in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap at Parx September 7 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in July. He failed to place in his previous two starts however. Pure Sensation enters in career best form and looks for a third straight win Saturday from the rail with John Velazquez guiding him.
Ready for Rye 10-1 - has placed in all nine career starts for trainer Thomas Albertrani - five wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. He enters on a nice three race win streak - the minor Allied Force Stakes September 13, the minor Quick Call Stakes August 6 and an Allowance Optional Claiming in July. Those wins followed thirds in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes in June and Grade 3 Bay Shore Stakes in April and a nice win in the Grade 3 Fasig-Tipton Swale Stakes in March. He has won four of his last six starts overall and has been competitive every time out. Victor Espinoza hopes to maintain that tend from gate 12.
Something Extra 12/1 defending tenth place finisher in this race won the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes in April for trainer Gail Cox but hasn't looked all that great since. He enters off a tenth place finish in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes on this track October 3 and consecutive fourths - the minor Troy Stakes in August and the Grade 2 Highlander Stakes in July. He did have a second in the Grade 3 Jaipur Stakes in June and a third in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Stakes in May but has struggled of late. Something Extra has nine wins, nine seconds and six third place finishes in 34 career starts but has failed to place in his last three. Mike Smith hopes to change all of that from gate 8 Saturday.
The Great War 12-1 - started his career in Ireland where he had two wins and debuted in North America a year ago when he finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He has been just Ok since - a third last time out in the Grade 2 Nearctic Stakes at Woodbine October 18 followed a second in the minor Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga in August, a tenth in the minor John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park in February and a win in the 96Rock Stake in January. He has placed in three of his last four starts and will be after his first graded stakes score - from post 10 with Ryan Moore in the saddle.

Bobby's Kitten 15-1 - defending champion in this race hasn't looked good in two starts this year - a ninth last time out in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile on this track October 3 followed a seventh in the Grade 2 Play the King Stakes at Woodbine August 23 and nearly nine months away after his Breeders' Cup score. He has 13 career starts with five wins including three stakes wins, a second and three third place finishes and will be looking to rediscover his seemingly long-lost form Saturday. Javier Castellano has been tabbed with accomplishing that goal from gate 2.
Marchman 15-1 - Bret Calhoun trainee was decent in 2014 - two wins, a second and two third place finishes to start his year including a good second in the Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park last June 7, a win in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs in May and a win in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland in April. He ended last year with a thirteenth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Marchman has just two starts this year - a second place finish in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 22 and an eighth last time out in the Grade 3 Del Mar Mile. Marchman now has five wins, four seconds and four third place finishes in 19 career starts. He hopes for his first win in 17 months when he departs from gate 11 with Robby Albarado guiding him.
No Silent 15-1 - Gary Mandella trained gelding has 23 career starts with seven wins, eight seconds and a third place finish and enters on a nice three race win streak. Last time out was his first graded stakes score - the Grade 3 Eddie D Stakes at Santa Anita October 3 after an Allowance Optional Claiming win in September and a Claiming score in August. No Silent enters in career-best form - from post 9 with Gary Stevens in the reins.
Mongolian Saturday 15-1 - has five runner-up finishes in his last six starts with an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Arlington sandwiched in there. Last time out was one of the seconds - in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes on this track October 3 after a second in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap September 7. He has six wins, eight seconds and six third place finishes in 30 career starts, has yet to post a graded stakes score but enters in decent form. Florent Geroux has been tabbed to ride from the outside post 14.
Jimmy Bouncer 15-1 - lightly raced Doug O'Neill trained colt has six career starts with four wins. He has failed to place in his last two starts however (his only graded stakes appearances). Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 3 Eddie D Stakes at Santa Anita October 3 after a sixth in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile in August. Green Mask 15-1 - Wesley Ward trained stakes winner has three wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 10 career starts and makes his graded stakes debut Saturday. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Kentucky Downs Turf Dash September 13 after a third in the Al Quoz Sprint Empowered by IPIC at Meydan and consecutive runner-up finishes in minor stakes action to start his year. Joe Franklin 30-1 - has placed in nine of 10 career starts for trainer David Jacobson - five wins, three seconds and a third place finish. He enters on a two race win streak - both Allowance Optional Claiming with the last one coming October 15 at Belmont Park. Stacked Deck 30-1 - Barbara Minshall trained gelding has six wins and three third place finishes in 15 career starts and has three wins and two third in seven starts this year. Last time out was third in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes here October 3 after a nice win in the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes at Woodbine September 13, a sixth in the Grade 2 Play the King Stakes on that same track in August and an Allowance score at Woodbine in July. Staked Deck has been competitive this year and hopes to remain so - from post 13 with Luis Saez in the irons.
Rumble Doll 30-1 - Alternate Entry has five wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 16 career starts and may make his graded stakes debut Saturday. Last time out was an Allowance score at Belmont Park October 8 after a third in the minor Smart N Fancy Stakes August 30 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score August 12.
Holy Lute - Alternate Entry has four wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 20 career starts. He may enter off a seventh in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes on this track October 3, a second in the minor Kentucky Downs Turf Dash September 14 and a win in the minor Green Flash Stakes at Del Mar in August. He has placed in just two of his last five starts and hopes for his first graded stakes score.
