Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity takes place at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky this Saturday, October 3. Two year olds will be featured when they take to Keeneland's main track and go 1 1/16 miles searching for the winner's share of the $500,000 purse.
12 juveniles will take part in the Breeders' Futurity - race 8 on Keeneland's packed Saturday card. Post time is 5:10 PM. Here is a brief look into the past performances of all 12 combatants for this Grade 1 stakes - a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" for the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile on this very track and also a points race on the road to the Kentucky Derby next May.
Exaggerator 7-2 - has two wins in three career starts for trainer Keith Desormeaux. Last time out was an impressive win in his stakes debut - the Grade 2 Saratoga Special August 16 after a maiden score in his second career start and a fifth in his debut. Exaggerator has looked mighty good in his last two starts and hopes to keep the roll going from post 7 in his first try around two turns. Kent Desormeaux rides the morning line favorite.
Uncle Vinny 9-2 - Todd Pletcher trained colt should be in the mix after a decent third behind Ralis and Magna Light last time out in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes September 7 at Saratoga followed a good win through disqualification in his graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes July 25. Before that was a serious hiccup however - a sixth in the minor Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park in June and a maiden score at first asking in May. Uncle Vinny is one of the more experienced entries in the field - he looks for a second graded stakes score in his first start around two turns when he departs from an unfavorable outside post with Luis Saez in the irons of the morning line second choice.
Sheikh of Sheikhs 5-1 - will race for just the second time for trainer Wesley Ward- his first start was a maiden score at Saratoga August 22. Edgar Prado has been tabbed to ride as Sheikh of Sheikhs looks to make it 2-for-2 to start his career from gate 8.
Rated R Superstar 6-1 - Kenneth McPeek trained colt has three career starts with a win and a pair of runner-up finishes. Last time out was a good second at 11-1 odds in his stakes debut - the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs September 12 after a maiden score and a runner-up finish in his debut at Ellis Park. Rated R Superstar has been competitive every time out and hopes to be again Saturday - from the rail with Calvin Borel guiding the only entry with experience beyond one mile.
Brody's Cause 6-1 - finished eighth in his debut for trainer Dale Romans - at Ellis Park August 1 but bounced back and broke maiden last time out in his second career start - at Churchill Downs September 11. Brody's Cause has been OK so far and looks for a first stakes score Saturday - from post 5.
Hawkbill 8-1 - has three wins and a third place finish in five career starts for trainer Charles Appleby - all in Britain. He makes his North American debut on the heels of three straight wins the last three months. Hawkbill has been impressive so far and will get the services of Mike Smith Saturday from post 3.

Sticksstatelydude 10-1 - makes his stakes debut Saturday having posted a win and a second place finish in his two career starts. He broke maiden last time out at Saratoga by two lengths August 1 after a second in his debut - at Churchill Downs June 27. Sticksstatelydude take a huge leap up in competition from gate 6 Saturday with Brian Joseph Hernandez in the irons.
Gametown 12-1 - has a pair of runner-up finishes in two career starts for trainer Mark Casse. He makes his stakes debut off a second at Churchill Downs September 11 after a second in his debut at Saratoga August 19. He looks for his first win Saturday from gate 4 with Julien Leparoux aboard.
Wild Man 15-1 - Steve Asmussen trained colt has a pair of third place finishes in his two career starts - one coming September 12 at Belmont Park and the other coming August 29 at in that same track. Wild Man looks for his first career win Saturday when he departs from post 9 with Ricardo Santana in the reins.
Pinnacle Peak 15-1 - has placed in all three career starts for trainer Michael Stidham. Last time out was a respectable third in the minor Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park September 6 after a good win in his stakes debut - the minor Prairie Meadows Juvenile Mile August 7 and a second in his debut. Pinnacle Peak is one of three stakes winners in the field and has been competitive every time out. Jockey Victor Espinoza hopes to keep that trend going from post 11 Saturday.
Uncle Jerry 30-1 - will race for the third time for trainer Eoin Harty having recorded a win and a third place finish in his two career starts - both at Presque Isle Downs. He broke maiden last time out September 16 and was third in his debut August 3. James Graham has been tabbed with keeping the upward trend going Saturday - from gate 2.
