Las Vegas, NV - Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky will be the scene of the Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes this Saturday, October 17. Three year old fillies will be featured when they take to Keeneland's dirt track and race seven furlongs for the winner's share of the $250,000 purse.
A field of 11 sophomore fillies will give it a go in the Raven Run Stakes - race 9 on Keeneland's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:30 PM. Here is a peek into the past performances of all 11 combatants for this Grade 2 stakes.
Bar of Gold - won her first three career starts - all at Aqueduct for trainer John Kimmel and has been up and down in four starts since. She does enter on the heels of consecutive runner-up finishes - the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 6 and behind Cavorting in the Grade 1 Test Stakes on that track in August. She had a fourth in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks July 11 which followed a sixth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes in June as well. Bar of Gold looks for her first ever stakes score and has been knocking on the door in her last two starts overall. Jose Lezcano gets the call from gate 2.
Miss Ella - Graham Motion trained filly has six career starts with three wins and a second place finish. She enters off one of those wins - in the minor Christiecat Stakes at Belmont Park September 11 after a second in the minor Coronation Cup at Saratoga in August, a fourth in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes in July and an eighth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes in June. Miss Ella searches for her first graded stakes score and enters in pretty good form. Trevor McCarthy gets the call from post 5.
Irish Jasper - Chad Brown trained filly had been impressive in her career - six win and a third place finish in her first nine career starts including a three race win streak - the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont Park July 4, the Grade 3 Miss Preakness Stakes in May and the minor Belle Harbor Stakes in April. She has failed to place in her last two starts however - a sixth last time out in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 6 followed a fourth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes on that same track August 8. Irish Jasper hopes to regain the form she displayed earlier this year from post 3 with Shaun Bridgmohan in the saddle.
Sarah Sis - three times stakes winner this year won the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes March 7, but stumbled to a fifth in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes in April- both at Oaklawn Park. She most recently finished a disappointing sixth in the Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks September 19 which followed a fourth after she led early and faded against older fillies and mares in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 29 and a nice two race win streak - the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks June 27 and the minor Panthers Stakes at Prairie Meadows in May. She also had a DNF in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks four weeks prior to that. Sarah Sis has five wins and three second place finishes in 12 career starts and looks to get back in the win column Saturday. Florent Geroux gets the call from gate 8.
Ahh Chocolate - has three wins and a third place finish in six career starts for trainer Neil Howard. She enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Churchill Downs September 19 which followed a tenth in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington August 15, a fourth in the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks in July and a third in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes in May. She looks for her first stakes score Saturday and enters in so-so form. Brian Joseph Hernandez has been tabbed to ride from gate 6 Saturday.

Chide - has placed in five of six career starts for trainer Albert Stall - two wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She made her stakes debut in June and finished a good third behind Include Betty and Wonder Gal in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park June 27 after an Allowance score May 31, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming May 1 and a maiden score at first asking in March. Last time out was a decent second in the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs September 19 after her only off-the-board finish - a fifth in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks in July. Miguel Mena will be in the irons from gate 10 Sunday as Chide looks for a breakthrough in stakes company.
Forever Unbridled - Dallas Stewart trained filly has just one win in six career starts but has placed in five. She enters off an ugly eleventh in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 1 after consecutive third place finishes - the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks March 28 and the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes in February. She also had a second place finish in the minor Silverbulletday Stakes in January. Unbridled Forever had been competitive every time out before her last start and looks to break through in stakes company. Calvin Borel picks up the mount from post 7 Saturday hoping to achieve that goal.
Kathballu - Kenneth McPeek trained filly has two wins, a second and three third place finishes in 10 career starts. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes September 19 at Churchill Downs after a fifth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes in August, a respectable third in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont Park July 4 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in May. Kathballu has failed to place in her last three starts overall (all graded stakes) and will be after her first stakes score Saturday. Julien Leparoux has the mount from post 9.
Paid Up Subscriber - has four career starts for trainer Albert Stall with two wins. Last time out was an OK fourth in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 6. That result followed two straight wins - an Allowance in July at Saratoga and a maiden score in May at Churchill Downs. Paid Up Subscriber has been OK so far and hopes for a breakthrough Saturday with Corey Lanerie in the reins from the rail.
I'm a Looker - has two wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 10 career starts for trainer Patrick Dupuy. She enters off a disappointing eighth in the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs September 19 after a respectable third in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 3 Azelea Stakes at Gulfstream July 5. She has yet to place in stakes company in five tries but hopes to change all of that from the outside post 11 with Jon Kenton Court in the reins.
Wind Chill Factor - has four wins and two second place finishes in eight career starts for trainer Gary Scherer. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday in sketchy form however. Last time out was a seventh in the minor Crescent City Oaks at Fair Grounds March 28 after a fifth in the minor Azalea Stakes at Delta Downs March 6 and an OK third in the minor LA Bred Premier Night Starlet Stakes in February. She won three straight minor stakes races at the end of 2014 - the Louisiana Futurity December 31, the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie Stakes December 13 and the Louisiana Jewel Stakes in November however. Wind Chill Factor has shown that she can run in the past - hopes are that Danny Velazquez can get her back to form from gate 4.
