Las Vegas, NV - Due to recent heavy rains, Kentucky Downs has transfered its Saturday 10-race card to Monday, September 14th, with the first live race at 1:35 CDT.
Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Kentucky will be the scene of the Grade 3 Kentucky Turf Cup on Monday, September 14. Horses three years old and upward will be featured when they take to Kentucky Downs' turf track and race 1 1/2 miles searching for the winner's share of the generous $600,000 purse.
A full field of 12 plus one Alternate Entry will give it a go in the Kentucky Turf Cup - race 10 on Kentucky Downs Saturday card. Post time is 6:10 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all 13 possible entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
Hyper 3-1 - Chad Brown entry has 27 career starts with 10 wins, six seconds and five third place finishes and enters on the heels of consecutive third place finishes. Last time out was in the Grade 1 American St. Leger Stakes at Arlington August 15 after a third in the Grade 3 Singspiel at Woodbine in July. Before that was an eighth in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes in June and another third in the Grade 1 Man o' War Stakes here May 9 his first race in 18 months. Before the layoff he had a good second in the prestigious Grade 1 Pattison Canadian International October 27 and a win in the Grade 2 Bowling Green Handicap at Belmont Park September 7, 2013. Hyper looks to get back to his summer/2013 form, has been OK lately (thirds in three of his last four starts) and hopes for his first win in two years Saturday. Jose Valdivia has been tabbed to ride from gate 2.
Quiet Force 5-1 - had a career best performance July 11 - a win in the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap but followed that with a very disappointing tenth last time out in the Grade 1 Arlington Millions. Quiet Force had a win in the minor J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys and Girls Club Stakes last year as well. He has won three of his last four starts overall dating back to May, 2014 and hopes for a strong rebound from gate 12 with Robby Albarado aboard.
Roman Approval 6-1 - started his career in South America and has been OK since arriving in North America. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 3 American St. Leger Stakes at Arlington August 15 after setting the pace and finishing second in the Grade 3 Stars and Stripes Stakes in July and two wins and two seconds in Claiming races all over the East Coast. Roman Approval has six wins, 11 seconds and two third place finishes in 24 career starts and looks for his first stakes win from post 9 with Julien Leparoux guiding him.
Power Ped 6-1 - made his graded stakes debut January 3 for trainer Neil Drysdale and finished a decent third behind Finnegans Wake and Patrioticandproud in the Grade 2 San Gabriel Stakes and followed that with a win in the minor Cotton Fitzsimmons Stakes at Turf Paradise January 17 and a good second February 7 in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita. He has been OK since - a fourth place finish last time out in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap August 22 followed a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming and a fourth in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes July 18 - both results on this track. He has placed in six of his last eight starts overall and looks OK ahead of this weekend. Flavien Prat has been tabbed to ride from gate 10.
Bailoutbobby 8-1 - Doug O'Neill pupil has 32 career starts with five wins, four seconds and six third place finishes. He arrives off an eighth in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar August 22 after a respectable second in the Grade 3 Cougar II Handicap here July 24 and another disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 Californian at Santa Anita May 30. He also had a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming May 8, a second in a similar race in April and career best effort - a good second behind Sky Kingdom in March in the Grade 3 Tokyo City Stakes. Bailoutbobby looks for his first stakes score Saturday in less-than-spectacular form. James Graham rides from gate 4.
Da Big Hoss 8-1 - has six wins, a second and two third place finishes in 12 career starts for trainer Michael Maker and enters on a nice three race win streak - last time out in his stakes debut - the listed John's Call Stakes at Saratoga August 26 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score in July 31 and a Claiming win in June. Da Big Hoss steps into graded stakes company for the first time in career best form with Joe Rocco in the reins from post 7.
Az Ridge 10-1 - has 41 career starts for trainer Dan McFarlane with 14 wins, nine seconds and nine third place finishes. He had a nice four race win streak earlier this year - all minor stakes races including the Turf Paradise Handicap February 14, the Wildcat Handicap April 4, the Hasta La Vista Handicap in May and the Brooks Fields Mile in June. He enters off a fifth place finish in his graded stakes debut however - the Grade 2 American St. Leger Stakes at Arlington August 15 which followed a second in the minor Mystic Lake Mile in July. Az Ridge has placed in seven of his last eight starts overall - very good but looks for his first graded stakes score Saturday. Geovanni Franco gets the call from the rail.

Dramedy 12-1 - has 17 career starts with four wins, two seconds and a third place finish. He made his graded stakes debut in November and finished seventh in the Grade 3 River City Handicap and has placed in just three of eight starts since. He did win the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes at 30-1 odds at Keeneland in April (the only on-the-board finish in his last five starts) but followed that with a fourth in the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap in July and an eighth last time out in the Grade 2 Bowling Green Handicap at Saratoga August 1. He also had an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Tampa Bay in February. Dramedy hasn't been great lately but can throw out a shocking result at times. Joe Bravo will try to produce one of those shocks from post 3 Saturday.
St. Albans Boy 15-1 - has three wins and two third place finishes in 17 career starts and enters this week having placed in just one of his last eight starts - that being a third last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga August 8. Before that was a fourth in the minor Cape Henolpen Stakes in July and an eighth in the Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes in June. St. Albans Boy looks to place in graded stakes company for the first time in his fourth attempt - from post 11 with Rafael Hernandez guiding him.
Captain Dixie 20-1 - has 12 career starts for trainer Kellyn Gorder with three wins, four seconds and a third place finish. His only graded stakes starts resulted in a second in the Grade 3 Jefferson Cup a year ago and an eighth in the Grade 3 Commonwealth Turf Stakes. He does enter off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Indiana Grand August 31 but before that was a fifth in the minor Warrior Veterans Stakes in July and consecutive runner-up finishes in Allowance Optional Claiming races early in the summer. Captain Dixie looks for his first stakes score and enters in so-so form. Channing Hill has the mount from gate 6.
Mygalsal 30-1 - finished ninth in his only graded stakes action- the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs in November. He enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Ellis Park July 26 after failing to hit the board in his previous two starts - both Allowance Optional Claiming. Mygalsal has placed in just three of his last nine starts overall and looks as though he will be in deep this weekend. Didiel Osorio has been tabbed with getting Mygalsal his first stakes score from gate 8.
Tobias 30-1 - looks for his first win in 14 career starts Saturday. He has two seconds and three third place finishes so far. Tobias makes his stakes debut off a second in a MSW August 3, a fourth and three straight third place finishes in similar races this year. Tobias looks in over his head in this one as he lines up in post 5 with Kieren Fallan aboard.
O'Prado Ole - Also Eligible Dale Romans trainee has two wins, a second and two third place finishes and finished fourth in this race last year. He finished second in the 2014 Grade 3 Stars and Stripes Stakes but has failed to place in four starts over the last year. Last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming after a ninth in the Pattison Canadian International Stakes in October. He may make just his second start of 2015 Saturday.
