Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Highlander Stakes comes our way from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario this Sunday, July 5 as part of the Queen's Plate undercard. Horses three years old and upward will take to the track and dash six furlongs searching for the winner's portion of the $200,000 purse.

Something Extra 2/1 defending champion of this race, Gail Cox trained gelding had six starts last year - a terrific win in the 2014 Highlander followed a second behind Excaper in the 2014 Connaught Cup in May and a third, just a length back in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland April 12. He was second in the minor Kentucky Downs Turf Dash, fourth in the Grade 2 Play the King Stakes at here in August and ended 2014 with a tenth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Something Extra has looked good in his three starts this year - a second last time out after setting the pace in the Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park June 6 followed a third in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint May 1 and a nice win in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland in April. Something Extra has three wins, three seconds and a third place finish in eight starts on Woodbine turf and is expected to be competitive again Sunday. Eurico Rosa Da Silva will be in the reins of the morning line favorite and 123 pound top weight from post 3 trying to keep his good 2015 form going.
Katie's Eyes 5/2 - Michael Stidham trained filly has placed in eight of 10 career starts - five wins and three third place finishes. She enters on an impressive four race win streak - the minor Unbridled Stakes at Churchill Downs May 9, the minor Giant's Causeway Stakes at Keeneland April 11 and two Allowance races at Keeneland to start her year. Katie's Eyes hasn't been touched this year and should be in the mix in her graded stakes bow Sunday. Patrick Husbands gets the mount from the outside post 7.
Mosler 7/2 - legendary trainer Bill Mott sends out Mosler who has four wins and a second place finish in 10 career starts. He enters of a sixth in the Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park June 6 after a nice win in the minor Elusive Quality Stakes in that same track in April and a couple more off-the-board finishes in graded stakes action - a ninth in the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Stakes in February and a sixth in the Grade 2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes in January. Mosler has placed in just one of his last four starts overall but is hopes for a bounce back Sunday. Shaun Bridgmohan has the call from gate 2 Sunday.
Shrinking Violet 6/1 - Wesley Ward trained mare has placed in 12 of 17 career starts - seven wins, a second and four third place finishes. She enters having won five of her last nine starts overall including the Grade 2 Monrovia Stakes at Santa Anita in January. She also won the minor Lightning City Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in January, 2014 and she did have a second in the Grade 3 Ontario Fashion Stakes at Woodbine in November, 2013 - some decent results. Shrinking Violet is coming off a third in the minor The Very One Stakes at Pimlico May 16 and looks for her second straight graded stakes score Sunday. Rafael Manuel Hernandez has been tabbed to ride in Shrinking Violet's Woodbine debut from gate 6 Sunday at a very intriguing 6/1 on the morning line.

Sharp Sensation 8/1 - Reade Baker trained gelding will hit the track for the first time since a second place finish in the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes here in November. Before that were two wins and a third place finish including a win in the minor Bet on Sunshine Stakes on dirt at Churchill Downs November 1, a good third in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland October 4 and a terrific win in the Grade 3 Turf Monster at Parx in September. Sharp Sensation has two wins, a second and a third place finish in his last four starts but off a seven month layoff could be a tad rusty. Jesse Campbell had the mount from gate 4 Sunday.
Go Blue Or Go Home 12/1 - Reade Baker trained gelding has five wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 18 career starts but has placed in just one of his last four starts - that being a third place finish last time out in the minor Karl Boyes Memorial Stakes at Presque Isle Downs June 15. Before that was a seventh in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes in April and a fifth in the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes on this track in November. He did with the 2013 edition of this race and has placed in three of eight graded stakes tries. He hopes for his first win in two years Sunday when he departs from the rail with Alan Garcia aboard.
Reflector 20/1 - makes his graded stakes debut Sunday after 13 career starts produced four wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. He has placed in seven of his last eight starts and has won two straight races ahead of this weekend - the minor Need For Speed Stakes at Evangeline May 2 and an Allowance Optional Claiming at Fair Grounds in March. Reflector makes his Woodbine debut Sunday in decent form but takes a major step up in competition. Gary Boulanger rides from post 5.
