2016 Noble Damsel Stakes Race Preview at Belmont Park

Mrs McDougal 9-5 - has four wins and two third place finishes in 10 career starts for trainer Chad Brown. The wins include a maiden score at first asking, an Allowance score by an impressive 7 1/4 lengths at Aqueduct last April 24, 2015, a terrific win six starts back in the Grade 2 Lake George Stakes last July 24 and three starts back in the minor Plenty of Grace Stakes at Aqueduct April 16. She also had a third in the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland in October and an OK third two back in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes here June 11. Last time out was a bit of a step back however - a seventh in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga July 23. Mrs McDougal had looked good before last time out and will be after a strong bounce back with Irad Ortiz in the irons of the only graded stakes winner in the field and morning line favorite from post 5.

Zindaya 5-2 - Chad Brown trained mare has placed in 11 of 13 career starts. She finished a respectable third in the Grade 3 Autumn Miss Stakes at Santa Anita in October, 2014 and had two minor stakes scores in the spring of 2015 - the Intercontinental Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths and the License Fee Stakes on this track. She has been OK lately as well - a third last time out in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 6 followed a good win in the minor Intercontinental Stakes here (for the second year in a row) and a second in the 2016 License Fee Stakes. Zindaya has been competitive virtually every time out and will be after her first graded stakes score from gate 6. Jose Lezcano gets the call in the second betting choice.

Stormy Victoria 3-1 - Christophe Clement trained French bred filly had two wins in eight career starts at home but failed to place in her last four - all stakes races. She returned from seven months away from the track and made her North American debut April 29 and promptly won an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park. Stormy Victoria has been OK since - a second last time out to Lady Lara in the minor De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 6 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track July 3 and a close fifth in her only graded stakes action to date - the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine May 29. She has been decent in her career and will be chasing her first stakes score from post 7 Saturday. John Velazquez gets the call on the third choice.

Bureau de Change 10-1 - Brian Lynch trained mare has four wins and three third place finishes in 13 career starts. She enters off a fourth with a 2014 Beyer Speed Figure in the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes at Monmouth July 31, an OK third with a good 107 Beyer Speed Figure in the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes on that track June 25 and having failed to place in her previous three starts - all stakes races including a fifth in the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile May 7, a fourth in the Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes March 12 and a fifth in the Grade 3 Endeavour Stakes at Tampa Bay February 13. Before that were two straight Allowance Optional Claiming scores this past winter. Bureau de Change looked good against lesser competition but hasn't been great against graded stakes company. Jockey Luis Saez will try to change all of that from gate 2 Saturday as she chases her first stakes score.

Akatea 12-1 - Irish bred Christophe Clement trained filly made her North American debut in April after two wins, a second and a third place finish and home including a win at Longchamp last April, a third in the Group 2 Qatar Prix Daniel Wilde in October and a second in the Group 2 Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp last September. Akatea has three starts in North America and hasn't been great - a ninth in that debut in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Belmont Park July 1 and a fourth last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga August 17. She has three wins, a second and a third place finish in 10 career starts and will be after a first stakes score from the rail. Joel Rosario rides.

The Tea Cups 12-1 - Jeremiah Englehart trained mare has six wins, four seconds and five third place finishes and has been up-and-down lately. She won her stakes debut in August, 2015 - the minor Yaddo Stakes at Saratoga and went on to a second in the minor John Hettinger Stakes at Belmont Park last September. She was off for seven months and returned in May to a nice win in the minor Mount Vernon Stakes at Belmont Park and has two starts since. Last time out was a third in the minor Yaddo Stakes July 26 which followed a ninth in her only graded stakes action to date - the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes on this track July 3. The Tea Cups has two minor stakes scores to her credit but will be after a first graded stakes victory from post 3. Antonio Gallardo has been tabbed to ride.

My Sweet Girl 15-1 - has four wins, a second and four third place finishes for trainer Barclay Tagg. She enters off a fifth in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 6, a good win in the minor Perfect Sting Stakes here July 2, a fourth in the minor Miss Liberty Stakes at Monmouth May 29, an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track May 6 and a seventh in her only graded stakes action to date - the Grade 3 Orchid Stakes at Gulfstream in April. My Sweet Girl has won two of her last four starts overall and will be after a first graded stakes victory from the outside gate 8 Saturday. Eric Cancel has the mount.

Mah Jong Maddnes 30-1 - John Morrison trained mare has just six wins, four seconds and five third place finishes in 40 career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming here September 15 and off-the-board finishes in her previous six starts including two minor stakes races. She did win the minor Mount Vernon Stakes here in May, 2014 but has failed to post victory since. Mah Jong Maddnes looks as though she's in over her head in this one. Angel Arroyo has the mount from post 5.
