OffTrackBetting.com - Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in Ranson, West Virginia will play host to the Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks on Saturday, September 17. Three year old fillies will be featured when they take to Charles Towns' dirt track and race seven furlongs for the winner's share of the $350,000 purse.
Six sophomore fillies will take to the track in the Charles Town Oaks - race 11 on Charles Town's Saturday schedule. Post time is 10:18 PM. Let's take a look at the past performances of all six entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
Sophia's Song 1-1 - has placed in all five career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher - three wins and two second place finishes. She posted a nice three race win streak early this year - the best of which came in dominant fashion in the minor Caesar's Wish Stakes at Laurel Park in March. She was away from the track for five months before returning August 12 to a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga and also had a 6 1/4 length Allowance score at Gulfstream Park. Sophia's Song has been a factor in every race so far and looks good ahead of her graded stakes debut. Javier Castellano will be in the saddle of the even money favorite from the outside gate 6.
Covey Trace 7-2 - has 10 career starts for trainer William Denzik with three wins, a second and three third place finishes. She enters having won two of her last three starts - both Allowance Optional Claiming races including last time out with a good 85 Beyer Speed Figure by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths - with an eighth in the minor TaWee Stakes at Indiana Grand sandwiched in there. She had another eighth in her only other stakes action to date. Covey Trace has been decent against lesser company - not so much against stakes foes. She tries to reverse that trend off a career-best performance - from post 5 Saturday with Brian Joseph Hernandez guiding her as the second betting choice.

Quick Release 5-1 - has two wins, two seconds and a third place finishes in nine career starts for trainer Michael Dini. She finished a respectable third in the Grade 3 Miss Preakness Stakes in May but has failed to place in three of four starts since. Last time out was a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga September 1 after an OK second in the minor Coronation Cup Stakes on that track August 1, a sixth in the minor Miss Woodford Stakes July 17 and a fifth in the minor Jersey Girl Stakes on this track in June. Quick Release has been OK at times and will be after her first stakes score from gate 4 Saturday. Alex Cintron will be in the saddle.
Giddy Up 5-1 - has placed in four of eight career starts for trainer Anthony Pecoraro - three wins and a second place finish. She makes her graded stakes debut off a respectable second in the minor Miss Woodford Stakes at Monmouth Park July 17 which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park July 2, a fifth in the minor Crank It Up Stakes at Monmouth in June and another Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park in May. Giddy Up steps up in so-so form and will be ridden in her dirt debut by Carol Cedeno from the rail.
Mia Torri 10-1 - has just three career starts for trainer Michael Reavis with a win and two runner-up finishes. She makes her stakes debut on the heels of two runner-up finishes in Allowance races at Arlington. She won her debut on that track June 10. Mia Torri has been in every race so far and hopes to be again in her step up in competition Saturday. JD Acosta has the mount.
Decoratedwithstyle 12-1 - has three wins, a second and three third place finishes in 10 career starts for trainer Flint Stites. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Penn National September 1, a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming August 3, an eighth in another Allowance Optional Claiming in July and another pair of thirds including the minor Jostle Stakes at Parx in June. Decoratedwithstyle has been just OK in her career and will be after a career-defining win from gate 2 Saturday. Jeremy Rose gets the call.
