OffTrackBetting.com - The G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup is on tap for this Saturday, October 15 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. A purse of $500,000 will be in the line for a group of three year old fillies willing to go 1 18 miles on Keeneland's turf track.
A strong field of nine will give it a go in the QE III Challenge Cup Stakes - race 9 on Keeneland's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:30 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all nine entries for this G1 stakes.
Catch a Glimpse 2-1 - Canadian Sovereign Award winner for 2015 Horse of the Year, Champion Grass Mare and Champion 2 Year Old Filly has eight wins (all on turf - seven graded stakes) and a second in 10 career starts for trainer Mark Casse and enters off her first loss in a while - a second in the G2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 21. Before that was a terrific eight race win streak - the G1 Belmont Oaks Invitational July 9, the G1 Penn Mile by 2 1/4 lengths in gate-to-wire fashion against the boys June 4, the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6, the G3 Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland April 14, the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream February 27, on the biggest stage - the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, by five lengths in the G2 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine September 12, and an Allowance score in August on that same track. Catch a Glimpse has been on fire and will be out to avenge her only loss in 14 months. Florent Geroux will be in the irons of the morning line favorite as per usual from the rail.
Time and Motion 5-2 - has eight career starts for trainer James Toner with four wins, a second and a third place finish. She enters off a good win over Catch a Glimpse in the G2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 21 after a second behind Catch a Glimpse in the G1 Belmont Oaks Invitational July 9 and a nice three race win streak - the listed Wonder Again Stakes June 5, the minor Memories Of Silver Stakes April 24 and a MSW at Gulfstream in March. The streak followed a couple of OK results in graded stakes action - a fifth behind Catch a Glimpse in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and a third in the G3 Miss Grillo Stakes here in September. Time and Motion has been very good lately and will be after her second straight graded stakes victory from post 7 Saturday. John Velazquez has the mount on the second betting choice.

On Leave 5-1 - impressive Shug McGaughey trained filly has placed in all six career starts - four wins, a second and a third place finish. She enters on a nice four race win streak - her graded stakes debut last time out - the G2 Sands Point Stakes at Belmont Park September 17, the minor Riskaverse Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths at Saratoga August 25, an Allowance Optional Claiming July 17 and a maiden score in June. On Leave was untouchable this past summer and hopes to keep the roll going with Jose Ortiz aboard the morning line third choice from gate 2.
Hawksmoor 6-1 - Irish bred Hugo Palmer trained filly has placed in seven of nine career starts - three wins and four third place finishes. She won a Group 3 888sport Prestige Stakes in August, 2015 and has been good since. A somewhat disappointing fifth last time out in the Group 1 Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown September 10 followed a third in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at Curragh in July, a good win in the Group 2 German One Thousand Guineas in Germany in June and three straight third place finishes in Group races at home. Hawksmoor has been competitive every time out and hopes her success from home translates in her North American debut. Corey Lanerie has been tabbed to ride the intriguing fourth choice from post 5.
Harmonize 8-1 - Bill Mott trained filly won the minor PG Johnson Stakes last September in her second career starts and went on to a terrific win in the G3 Jessamine Stakes on this track last October 7. She was a somewhat disappointing seventh in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf but rebounded in her next start winning the minor Sanibel Island Handicap at Gulfstream in March. She's been decent since as well - a career-defining win last time out in the G1 Del Mar Oaks August 20 followed a fifth in the competitive G1 Belmont Oaks Invitational July 9, a second behind Time and Motion in the listed Wonder Again Stakes June 5 and a third in the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6. Harmonize has been a tad up and downs and looks to build on a nice win last time out. Junior Alvarado gets the call from gate 4.
Stays in Vegas 12-1 - has five wins, a second and three third place finishes in 10 career starts for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer - all of the wins in stakes races. Last time out was an OK third behind Harmonize in the G1 Del Mar Oaks August 20 which followed another third in the G2 San Clemente Handicap July 23, another third in the G2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita June 19 and a terrific win in the G3 Senorita Stakes May 7. She also had a close second in the G1 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos December 12, a win in the minor Pike Place Dancer Stakes at Golden Gate November 1, a victory in the Surer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita October 10 (both of those wins coming on turf), a fifth behind Songbird in the G1 Del Mar Debutante last September and wins in the Wine Country Debutante in August and the Juan Gonzalez Memorial at first asking in July. Stays in Vegas has been competitive every time out and hopes to snap a string of third place finishes from post 3. Flavien Prat has the mount in Stays in Vegas' Keeneland debut.
Mokat 12-1 - has two wins, two seconds and two third place finishes in 10 career starts for trainer Richard Baltas. Last time out was a fourth in the G2 Del Mar Oaks August 20 which followed a career-defining 3 3/4 length win in the G2 San Clemente Handicap July 23, a troubled thirteenth in the G1 Kentucky Oaks in May, a respectable second behind Songbird in the G1 Santa Anita Oak April 9 and consecutive third place finishes - the G3 Santa Ysabel Stakes March 5 and in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 5. She also had a decent second in the G3 Jimmy Durante Stakes at Del Mar November 28. Mokat has failed to place in two of her last three starts overall and will be after just her second win in a year when she departs from the outside post 9 with Kent Desormeaux in the irons.
Try Your Luck 15-1 - Michael Maker trained filly has placed in nine of 10 career starts - three wins, a second and five third place finishes. Last time out was a good win by 7 1/2 lengths in the listed Dueling Ground Oaks at Kentucky Downs September 11 after three straight third place finishes in stakes action - the G3 Pucker Up Stakes after being DQ'd from first at Arlington August 13, the minor TaWee Stakes at Indiana Grand July 20 and the G3 Regret Stakes in June. Try Your Luck has been competitive for sure and will be after her first graded stakes score from gate 6 Saturday. Julien Leparoux will be in the irons.
Queen Caroline 20-1 - Michael Matz trained filly has four wins and two second place finishes in eight career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday on a nice four race win streak - the minor Indiana Grand Stakes last time out September 7, the minor TaWee Stakes at Indiana Grand July 20, the minor Nellie Mae Cox Stakes at Pimlico in June and a MSW in May. She was second in a pair of races before that. Queen Caroline hasn't been touched in five months and hopes her success in minor stakes action carries over against top company. Jockey Alex Cintron will try to accomplish that goal from gate 8 Saturday.
Race 9 on Keeneland's Saturday card with a Post Time of 5:30 PM.
