A field of six will give it a go in the Shoemaker Mile - race 6 on Santa Anita's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:30 PM. Let's take a peek into the past performances of all six combatants for this Grade 1 stakes.
Heart to Heart - Canada's 2014 champion 3-year-old male, multiple Grade 3 winning Brian Lynch trainee enters in great form - a second last time out in the Grade 1 Maker's 46 Mile at Keeneland April 15 followed three straight wins - all in gate-to-wire fashion - the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream February 27, over the terrific Lukes Alley in the Grade 2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes on that track January 9 and in the Grade 3 River City Handicap at Churchill Downs November 26. Before that was an ugly tenth in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile in October and another win in the Grade 3 Oceanport Stakes at Monmouth Park August 2. In 2014 he also had a nice three race win streak - the Grade 3 Commonwealth Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs, the Grade 3 Jefferson Cup Stakes and the minor Better Talk Now Stake in wire-to-wire fashion. Heart to Heart now has nine wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 22 career starts and has won four of his last six starts overall. Jockey Julien Leparoux hopes to keep an impressive roll going Saturday from the rail.
Tourist - Bill Mott pupil won three straight races in the summer of 2014 including the minor Sir Cat Stakes at Saratoga in July and finished a good second in his graded stakes debut- the Grade 1 Secretariat at Arlington August 16, 2014. He went on to a thirteenth place finish in the Breeders' Cup Mile and was forced out of action for 10 months. He returned to action September 5 and won the minor More Than Ready Mile by 3 3/4 lengths at Kentucky Downs and followed that with a respectable third in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile October 3. He has failed to place in two of his last three starts however - a fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 7 followed an OK third in the Grade 1 Maker's 46 Mile and an eighth in the Breeders' Cup Mile. Tourist has been a tad tough to figure out and will be after his first win in nine months from post 3. Jose Lezcano has the mount.

Home Run Kitten - 2014 Grade 3 Eddie D Stakes winner, David Hofmans pupil has four wins, two seconds and five third place finishes in 17 career starts. Last time out was a huge bounce back however - a win in the Grade 3 American Stakes here May 6. Home Run Kitten looks for his second straight graded stakes score after an unflattering stretch and will have Joe Talamo guiding him from gate 4.
Twentytwentyvision - Richard Mandella trained gelding has placed in all 10 career starts - four wins, three seconds and three third place finishes. Last time out was a third in the Grade 3 American Stakes here May 6 after a second in the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes on this track April 9, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Del Mar in August and a second in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes last July. Midnight Storm has five wins and three seconds in 15 career starts and has placed in just of his last six starts overall, although that result was a good one. He hopes to snap a funk Saturday from the outside gate 6. Rafael Bejarano rides.
Cape Wolfe - British bred Philip D'Amato trained gelding has three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 16 career starts. He had three straight wins at home before a third place finish in his North American debut in the minor Clocker's Corner Stakes here January 24. Cape Wolfe really caught fire in Britain before shipping and has looked OK in North America. Hopes are that he can regain his summer form and make a little noise Saturday.
