OffTrackBetting.com - The Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks is on tap for this Sunday, July 24 from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. A nice purse of $500,000 will be on the line for some of the best three year old fillies in the land willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Saratoga's dirt track.
A field of five including the sensational Songbird will take to the track in the CCAO - race 10 on Saratoga's Sunday schedule. Post time is 6:18 PM. Let's take a glance into the past performances of all five entries for this Grade 1 stakes - four of which will likely be chasing Songbird.
Songbird 4-5 - Jerry Hollendorfer trained undefeated superstar filly and reigning Eclipse Award winner for two year old fillies won all four of her starts in 2015, the last three in Grade 1 events. Her debut was by 6 1/2 lengths in July which was followed by wins by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths as even money favorite in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante September 5, the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes by 4 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita September 26, and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies by an impressive 5 3/4 lengths. She has four starts in 2016 and four more impressive wins - by 6 1/2 lengths in the Grade 2 Summertime Oaks last time out June 18, by 3 1/4 lengths in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks April 9, the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes by 3 3/4 lengths March 5 and by 6 1/2 lengths in the Grade 2 Las Virgenes Stakes February 6 - all at Santa Anita. She hasn't been touched yet - five gate-to-wire wins in eight starts and eight wins by a combined 42 1/2 lengths - as impressive as any horse in any division the last year. She will look to keep the impressive roll going Sunday from the rail with Mike Smith aboard the obvious favorite.
Carina Mia 6-5 - Bill Mott trained filly has four wins and a second place finish in six career starts - the runner-up finish coming in her debut. She enters off a good win in the against a very good field in Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 11 which followed a nice six length score in the Grade 2 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6, an uncharacteristic fourth in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland in April and an impressive two race win streak - by 4 1/2 lengths in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs November 28 and a maiden score by 9 3/4 lengths in record time at Keeneland October 29. Carina Mia has been very good so far and is expected to be competitive again Sunday. Julien Leparoux has been tabbed to ride Songbird's only real threat from gate 2.

Weep No More 10-1 - George Arnold trained filly has three wins in five career starts and enters off a career-worst effort - a seventh in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs in May. That result followed a terrific three race win streak - the best of which came in upset fashion over the very good Carina Mia, Rachel's Valentina and Cathryn Sophia in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland April 9. Before that her wins came in the minor Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay February 13 and a MSW January 22. Weep No More had definitely been trending upward before last time out and will be out to prove that her Kentucky Oaks effort was the exception, not the rule. Javier Castellano rides from gate 4.
Mo d'Amour 12-1 - Todd Pletcher trained filly has three wins and two third place finishes in nine career starts. She recorded a third place finish in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct April 9 but has failed to place in three starts since - a fifth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 6 was followed by an eighth in the minor Wonder Again Stakes June 5 and a fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park July 2. She won the minor Busher Stakes February 27 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park in February as well. Mo d'Amour has been a tad disappointing lately and will be looking for a major breakthrough from post 5 Sunday. John Velazquez has the mount.
Flora Dora 30-1 - finished second in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct November 4 but has placed in just two of six starts since. Last time out was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park July 1 after a ninth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico May 20, a fifth in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct April 9, a fourth in the minor Busher Stakes on that track in February, a good win in the minor Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct January 31 and a fourth in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes November 28. Flora Dora has shown form in the past but has looked just average lately. She looks for a major breakthrough and to snap a five race losing streak Sunday from post 3 with Emmanuel Esquivel aboard. Flora Dora is also entered in Friday's Lake George Stakes.
Race 10 on Saratoga's Sunday card with a Post Time of 6:18 PM.
