He enters off a good win in the G2 Charles Whittingham Stakes at Santa Anita May 28 after an OK third after tiring in the G2 San Luis Rey Stakes there March 25, a nice win with a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in the minor California Cup Turf Classic at Santa Anita in January, a second in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup at Del Mar in November, a decent fifth in the Breeders' Cup Turf November 5 and a nice two race win streak - the G2 John Henry Turf Championship October 2 and the G2 Del Mar Handicap August 20. Before that was a good second in the 2016 Eddie Read Stakes, an OK third in the minor Crystal Waters Stakes at Santa Anita last June 11 and 10 months away from the track. Last time out was a fifth in the G3 American Stakes at Santa Anita July 4 which followed a fourth in the G2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar November 26, a disappointing eighth in the minor Damascus Stakes at Santa Anita November 4, an OK third in the G3 Eddie D Stakes on that track September 30, a sixth in the minor Green Flash Stakes at Del Mar August 12 and a three-race win streak - the best of which coming in the minor Siren Lure Stakes at Santa Anita last June. Hunt chases his first graded stakes score Saturday having failed to place in three of his last four starts. Flavien Prat will be in the irons hoping to change Hunt's fortunes around from gate 2.
Neil French trained gelding has four wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 20 career starts. He enters on the heels of two straight third place finishes in Allowance Optional Claiming races - one coming on this track in November. Before that was a seventh in the G2 John Henry Turf Championship Stakes at Santa Anita in October, a fifth in the G3 Del Mar Handicap in October, an Allowance Optional Claiming score here last July and off-the-board finishes in two graded stakes races. Wanstead Gardens will try to hit the board in graded stakes action for the first time in his fifth try when he leaves from gate 4 with Tyler Baze guiding him.
George Papaprodromou trained gelding has three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish in 15 career starts. He arrives off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita June 16 which followed eight months away, an eighth in the G2 Twilight Derby at Santa Anita in November, another Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita in October, a fourteenth in the G2 Del Mar Derby in September and a seventh in the G3 La Jolla Handicap here in August. Mr. Roary hasn't been all that impressive in stakes action but will be out to make a statement Saturday from the rail. Santiago Gonzalez will be in the saddle.
Irish bred Doug O'Neill trained gelding has 28 career starts with five wins, six seconds and three third place finishes. He has placed in three straight races ahead of this weekend - a second last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita July 2 followed two straight wins - a Claiming at Santa Anita May 26 and a Waiver Claiming on that track March 30. He has three graded stakes starts with a third in the 2015 G3 Last Tycoon Stakes being the best (he finished ninth in the other two). Abbey Vale has been good against lesser competition and hopes it finally translates in stakes action. Jockey Kyle Frey will try to accomplish that from the outside post 7.

Up With the Birds has placed in just one of his last four starts overall, he looks to snap a six-race win streak and enters in less-than-spectacular form. Jamie Theriot will be in the saddle from post 5.
