2017 Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes Entries at Delaware Park

Zipessa 2-1

Has 12 career starts for trainer Michael Stidham with four wins, a second and three third place finishes. She enters off a third in the G3 Eatontown Stakes June 3, and consecutive fifths - the G2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes May 6 and the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Before that was a respectable second in the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita October 1, an OK third in the G1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington August 13, a good win in the G3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes here last July 4 and a third in the G3 Mint Julep Stakes at Churchill Downs last June 11. Zipessa has been just OK lately and will be after her first win in a year (5 starts). Joe Bravo will try to accomplish that goal on the morning line favorite Saturday from gate 4.

Paige 3-1

Has four wins, three seconds and four third place finishes in 17 career starts for trainer Christophe Clement - her best result was a third in the G1 Darley Alcibiades in October, 2014, a nice win in the minor Via Borghese Stakes here at Gulfstream December 31 and a third last time out in the G3 The Very One Stakes on that track March 4. She's also had an ugly ninth in the G3 La Prevoyante Stakes January 28, a sixth in the G3 Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes at Keeneland in October, a respectable second in the minor Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon September 15, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Suffolk Downs August 7 and a fifth in a similar race at Belmont Park in July. She has quietly placed in four of her last six starts while delivering duds in the other two but looked OK last time out. Paige tries to build on that effort from the outside post 9 with Eric Cancel guiding the morning line second choice.

Northern Smile 6-1

Kelly Rubley trained mare has 21 career starts with four wins, four seconds and three third place finishes. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off a sixth in the minor Keertana Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs May 27, an OK second in the minor Dahlia Stakes at Laurel Park April 22, a seventh in the minor Tiara Stakes at Gulfstream December 3, a third in the minor Maryland Million Ladies Stakes at Laurel Park in October and a fourth in the minor George Rosenberger Memorial on this track in September. She posted consecutive Allowance scored before that. Northern Smile has been good against lesser company and hopes it finally translates in her step up - from gate 2 with Daniel Centeno aboard the third betting choice.

Guilty Twelve 8-1

Graham Motion trained mare has three wins and two second place finishes in nine career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off an Allowance score at Belmont Park May 19, a fifth in the minor Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon September 15 and another Allowance score at Saratoga last July 28. She has three wins and a second-place finish in her last five starts - competitive almost every time out and hopes to place in stakes company for the first time Saturday. Christopher DeCarlo has been tabbed to ride from gate 6.

Happyness 8-1

British bred Graham Motion trained mare has placed in five of six career starts. She arrives off a ninth in the minor Via Borghese Stakes at Gulfstream Park way back on December 31 which followed two straight Allowance scores - one at Belmont Park in May, 2016 and the other at Aqueduct a month before that. She hit the board in all three of her first three starts overseas as well. Happyness makes her graded stakes debut off a career-worst effort and hopes to channel her first two North American starts from post 7. Feargal Lynch gets the call.

Bishop's Pond 8-1

Has just three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 19 career starts for trainer Jason Servis. She made her graded stakes debut last time out and finished fifth in the G3 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park June 3 after a respectable second in the minor Plenty of Grace Stakes at Aqueduct April 15, an Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track November 10 and a pair of fifths in similar races at New York tracks at the end of last summer. She failed to place in three of her previous four starts as well. Bishop's Pond has been OK lately and will be after a first ever stakes score Saturday. Nik Juarez has the mount from the rail.

Gone Away 8-1

Michael Matz trained filly has three wins and two third place finishes in 10 career starts. She enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park June 10, a fourth in a similar race at Pimlico May 19 and a third in an Allowance at Keeneland April 14. Before that was a sixth in the G2 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga last July, an eighth in the G3 Regret Stakes at Churchill Downs in June, 2016 and a good win in the minor Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico in May, 2016. Gone Away has been OK so far in her career but has yet to hit the board in graded stakes action. Jockey Victor Carrasco will try to change all of that from post 5 Saturday.

Giovanna Blues 8-1

Has three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish in eight career starts for trainer Michael Dickinson. She makes a quick turn-around off an eighth-place finish in the G2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine July 2 which followed three straight wins - two Allowance scores - one coming at Laurel Park April 29 and the other at Woodbine in November and a MSW two weeks before that. Giovanna Blues looked good against lesser competition but was out of place in her step up last time out. Jockey Alex Cintron will try to avenge that outing from gate 8 Saturday.

Tricky Escape 10-1

Lynn Ashby trained filly has placed in seven of eight career starts - two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. She stepped into stakes company for the first time last time out and finished fourth in the G3 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park June 3 after a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Pimlico May 19 and a win, a second and a third-place finish respectively in a trio of Allowance races this past spring. She has been a factor in every race so far and hopes to be again Saturday from post 3. Forest Boyce rides.
