2017 Salvator Mile Stakes Entries at Monmouth Park

Majestic Affair 7-2

Chad Brown trained gelding has 15 career starts with six wins four seconds and a third-place finish. He returns to the track after nearly a year away Saturday and after a second in the minor Turning for Home Stakes at Parx in June, 2016, a third in the G3 Alysheba Stakes at Churchill Downs in May, 2016 and a seventh in the G1 Carter Handicap in April of that year. Before that was a respectable second in the 2016 G3 General George Handicap at Laurel Park in February, 2016 and two nice wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Aqueduct December 16, 2016 and the minor Jazil Stakes on that track January 16 of last year. Majestic Affair had been competitive before his lengthy layoff and hopes to pick up where he left off from gate 2. Kendrick Carmouche will be in the saddle of the tepid morning line favorite.

Far From Over 4-1

Lightly raced Todd Pletcher trained Ringling has four career starts and has won three. He hits the track for the first time in 10 months Saturday after a sixth in the minor Alydar Stakes at Saratoga August 7. Before that were three straight wins to start his career - the best of which coming in the G3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct in February, 2015. Far From Over has been OK when healthy and will chase his second graded stakes score from gate 8 Saturday with Christopher DeCarlo guiding the co-second choice.

Classy Class 4-1

Has 17 career starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin with four wins and four third place finishes. He has 10 graded stakes starts with a pair of thirds (the G3 Withers Stakes and G3 Gotham Stakes in 2015) being the best results. He enters off a sixth in the G2 Maryland Sprint Stakes at Pimlico May 20 which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Aqueduct April 13, a third in a similar race on that track March 18 and a fifth in the G3 General George Stakes at Laurel Park in February. Before that was a sixth in the G3 Toboggan Stakes at Aqueduct January 16, a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming November 23, a fourth in a similar race at Belmont Park October 27 and 13 months away from the track. Classy Class has placed in just two of his last five starts overall and shoots for his first stakes win from post 3. Paco Lopez has the mount on another one of the co-second choices.

El Kabeir 4-1

Bill Mott trainee was on the Kentucky Derby trail in 2015 before injury set him back. He posted wins in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes in November, 2014 and the G3 Jerome Stakes in January, 2015 and went on to a second in the G3 Withers Stakes in February of that year, a win in the G3 Gotham Stakes in March, 2015 and a third in the 2015 G1 Wood Memorial Stakes - pretty good before being sent to the sidelines for nearly seven months. He returned to action October 31, 2015 and finished fifth in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap October 31 and rediscovered his winning ways in the minor City of Laurel Stakes November 14. He has failed to place in six of his last seven starts ahead of this weekend however - an eleventh last time out in the G2 Churchill Downs Stakes May 6 followed a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream March 16, a sixth in the G1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga last August, a fourth in the G1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs last June 18, a seventh in the 2016 G2 Dixie Stakes, a seventh in the 2016 G2 San Antonio Stakes and a fourth in the G1 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita December 26, 2015. El Kabeir now has five wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 18 career starts and enters in less-than-spectacular form. Joe Bravo will try to right the ship from the outside post 9 Saturday at 4-1 odds.

Name Changer 5-1

Alan Goldberg trained colt has placed in seven of 10 career starts - four wins, a second and two third place finishes. Last time out was a slightly disappointing fourth in the G3 Pimlico Special May 19 which followed a good win in the minor Richard W. Small Stakes at Laurel Park way back on November 11, an Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track in October, a tenth in the G3 Smarty Jones Stakes at Parx in September and an OK third in the G2 West Virginia Stakes at Mountaineer in August - his graded stakes debut. Name Changer has been OK so far in his career and hopes for a first graded stakes score gate 6 with Jevian Toledo in the irons.

Red Dragon Tattoo 6-1

Juan Carlos Guerrero trained gelding has just five career starts but has won four. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Parx May 6, a fifth in his only stakes action to date - the minor Native Dancer Stakes at Laurel Park and three straight wins to start his career - two Allowance races and a MSW - all at Parx to end his 2016 campaign. Red Dragon Tattoo has been impressive in lesser company and hopes it finally translates in his step up Saturday. Paco Lopez gets the call from the rail.

Adirondack King 10-1

Has 44 career starts for trainer John Servis with just seven wins, 10 seconds and six third place finishes. He won the minor Chandelier Stakes in March, 2016 and also won another minor stakes race in 2011 but has been inconsistent since. He has failed to place in three of his last four starts ahead of this weekend - a fifth last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming April 23 followed a fourth in the minor Challenger Stales at Tampa Bay March 11, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming in February and consecutive fourths - one being the G2 Monmouth Cup on this track in July. Adirondack King shoots for his first win overall in 16 months Saturday from post 7. Jose Ferrer gets the call.

Donegal Moon 12-1

Has three wins, a second and a third-place finish in 13 career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher. He hasn't been great lately - a seventh last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs May 6 followed a fourth in a similar race at Gulfstream March 16. Before that was a nine-month layoff, a career-best win in the G3 Pegasus Stakes on this track in June, 2016 and a fourth in the minor LARC Sir Barton Stakes at Pimlico May 21, 2016. He also had an eighth in the 2016 G1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, an Allowance score by an incredible 13 1/2 lengths at Parx March 5, a fifth in the G3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct January 30 and 2016 a DNF after he lost his rider on that track in the G3 Jerome Stakes three weeks prior. He has placed in just one of his last five starts overall - that result being an impressive one but for the most part has been underwhelming. Jockey Eddie Castro hopes to change all of that from post 5 Saturday.

Just Call Kenny 20-1

Has just four wins, four seconds and six third place finishes in 26 career starts for trainer Patrick McBurney - he has placed in just two of six graded stakes tries - thirds in the 2014 G2 Indiana Derby and 2014 G3 Discovery Handicap. He has been OK against lesser company lately - a second in an Allowance last time out at Parx June 3 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park April 21 and a third in an Allowance at Parx April 1. Just Call Kenny tries for a first stakes win in his eighth try when he leaves from gate 4 with Nik Juarez aboard.
