Ashleyluvssugar - has 20 career starts for trainer Peter Eurton with nine wins (4 marathon graded stakes), three seconds and three third place finishes. He enters off a nice win with a field best 100 Beyer Speed Figure in the minor California Cup Turf Classic here January 28 which followed a second in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup on at Del Mar in November, a decent fifth in the Breeders' Cup Turf November 5 and a nice two race win streak - the G2 John Henry Turf Championship October 2 and the G2 Del Mar Handicap August 20. Before that was a good second in the G2 Eddie Read Stakes July 17, an OK third in the minor Crystal Waters Stakes at Santa Anita June 11 and 10 months away from the track. He also had and a nice three race win streak in 2015 - in the G2 Charles Whittingham Stakes May 24, by 2 1/4 lengths in the G2 San Luis Rey Stakes March 21 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in February of that year. Ashleyluvssugar has placed in 10 of his last 12 starts, has eight straight races with a 100 or better Beyer Speed Figure and looks to continue a pretty good string of results. Gary Stevens will be in the saddle Saturday from gate 4.
Flamboyant - French bred Patrick Gallagher trained gelding has been up and down in his career and enters this week in OK form - consecutive thirds ahead of this week - the G2 San Marcos Stakes here February 4 and in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup at Del Mar November 25. He wasn't great before that - consecutive eighths including the G2 John Henry Turf Cup at Santa Anita October 2 and the G2 Del Mar Handicap in August followed an OK third in the G3 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar July 17 and a quality fifth in the Group 1 Dubai Turf at Meydan March 26 against some of the best turf horses on the planet. He won the G2 San Marcos Stakes in February of last year and the 2016 San Gabriel Stakes at 46-1 odds last January as well but hasn't been the same since. Flamboyant now has five wins, three seconds and seven third place finishes in 25 career starts and hopes to build on two straight decent efforts. Brice Blanc has the mount from post 3.

Texas Ryano - has 19 career starts for trainer Carla Gaines with five wins, three seconds and three third place finishes. He made his graded stakes debut in November, 2015 and finished a disappointing eighth as favorite in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup and has been up and down since. Last time out was a sixth in the G2 San Marcos Stakes here February 4 which followed a good win at this distance in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup in November, a sixth in the Breeders' Cup Turf, a good second behind Ashleyluvssugar in the G2 John Henry Turf Championship October 2, a third behind Ashleyluvssugar in the G2 Del Mar Handicap August 20 and a seventh in the G2 Eddie Read Stakes in July. Texas Ryano has been a tad tough to figure out but has shown that he can surprise up every so often. Joe Talamo has been tabbed with providing one of those surprises from post 9.
Isinthepost - French bred Jeff Mullins trained gelding has 23 career starts with three wins, six seconds and five third place finishes. He enters on the heels of three straight runner-up finishes - the G2 San Marcos Stakes here last time out February 4, the G3 San Gabriel Stakes on this track January 7 and an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar November 19. Before that were a win and another second respectively in another pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races. He placed in four of his previous five as well - all Allowance Optional Claiming races. Isinthepost has been good against lesser competition and has proven to be worthy in his two graded stakes runs. He has been knocking on the door, has finished worse than second just once in his last eight starts overall and will try to bust through with a first stakes win from gate 10 Saturday. Tyler Baze has been tabbed to ride from gate 10.
Power Foot - defending fifth place finisher in this race, Neil Drysdale trained gelding has just four wins and seven third place finishes in 32 career starts. He started 2015 with an Allowance Optional Claiming score (his last win) and went on to consecutive respectable third place finishes in graded stakes action. He has failed to place in seven of his last eight starts ahead of this weekend - that being a third last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track February 25. Before that was a seventh in a similar race here February 5, a fourth in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup in November, a fifth in the G3 Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes September 10 and a seventh in the G1 Del Mar Handicap August 20. Power Foot hasn't been great and hopes to turn his fortunes around from gate 2 Saturday. Kent Desormeaux gets the call.
Inordinate - Richard Baltas trainee has 12 career starts with two wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. He placed in five of seven starts in Europe to start his career including a third in a pair of Group 3 races in the summer of 2015 - he has been less-than-spectacular in five starts in the United States. He enters off an OK second in an Allowance Optional Claiming here February 25 which followed six months off and three straight fifth place finishes - the G1 Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga in August, two Allowance Optional Claiming races and a third in a similar race at Aqueduct in April. Inordinate hasn't been all that impressive but will be out to make a little noise from the rail Saturday. Corey Nakatani will be in the reins.
Papacoolpapacool - has 20 career starts for trainer Phil D'Amato with five wins, a second and four third place finishes. He enters off his first win in quite some time - an Allowance Optional Claiming here February 5 which followed a third in the minor Winter Stakes at Los Alamitos December 17, a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming in November and a pair of thirds in similar races this past summer. He has five prior graded stakes starts and has failed to place in any including a ninth in the G3 Thunder Road Stakes last April, a sixth in the 2015 Del Mar Derby and a fourth in the 2015 La Jolla Handicap. Papacoolpapacool has been OK against lesser company lately but will still be in search of a first stakes score from gate 8 Saturday. Edwin Maldonado gets the call.
Liam the Charmer - has two wins, a second and a third place finish in seven career starts for trainer Michael McCarthy. Last time out was one of his wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming here February 9. That followed a fourth in a similar race at Del Mar November 19, a fifth in his only graded stakes action to date - the G3 La Jolla Handicap at Del Mar in August, a third in the minor Rainbow Stakes here in June and a maiden score on this track in May. Liam the Charmer searches for his first stakes win and enters in so-so form. He will have Victor Espinoza in the reins from post 5.
Syntax - Irish bred Phil D'Amato trainee has three wins, three seconds and four third place finishes in 17 career starts. He won the G3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park in July, 2015 but hasn't been great since. Last time out was a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming here February 5 after a fifth in an Allowance at Presque Isle Downs October 5, a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Woodbine September 23 and a seventh in the G3 Cliff Hanger Stakes at Monmouth Park in August. He also had a ninth in the G3 Hawthorne Derby in October, 2015 and a sixth in the G3 Jefferson Cup at Churchill Downs in September of that year. Syntax has placed in just three of his last seven starts overall and looks to snap an eight race losing streak from gate 6. Rafael Bejarano rides.
Buster Douglas - Brazilian bred Paulo Lobo trainee had two wins and a third place finish in his three starts at home but hasn't looked good in his three North American starts. Last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 25 after a ninth and a third respectively in a pair of similar races - all at Santa Anita. Buster Douglas hasn't been great but hopes to makes some noise from post 7 Saturday. Santiago Gonzalez will be in the irons.
Some in Tieme - Brazilian bred Paulo Lobo trainee has seven career starts with three wins, a second and a third place finish. He made his North American debut February 5 and finished sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here after a terrific win at home in the Group 1 Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano back in March, a second in a stakes last January and another Group 1 score in September, 2015 - the Linneo de Paula Machado - Grande Criterium. Some in Tieme was superb in limited action at home and hopes to make some noise on North American soil. Tiago Josue Pereira is scheduled to ride from post 11.
Site Read - Michael McCarthy trained gelding has just one win and a second place finish in eight career starts. He makes his stakes debut Saturday off his best result in quite a while - a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar December 2. He failed to place in his previous six starts. Site Read hasn't been great and looks as though he'll be in over his head in this one. Stewart Elliot rides from the outside gate 12.
