OffTrackBetting.com - The G2 Jim Dandy Stakes will be run this Saturday, July 29 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. Horses three years old will take to Saratoga's dirt track and race 1 1/8 miles for the winner's share of the $600,000 purse.
A short but intriguing group of five will take to the track in the Jim Dandy Stakes - race 10 on Saratoga's stacked Saturday card. Post time is 6:18 PM. Here is a peek into the past performances for all five entries for this G2 stakes including two of the three Triple Crown winners from this year.
Todd Pletcher trained colt has placed in six of seven career starts - four terrific wins, a second and a third-place finish - the best by far was his impressive victory in the Kentucky Derby. He enters off an uncharacteristic and underwhelming eighth in the G1 Preakness Stakes May 20 which followed a four-race win streak - The Kentucky Derby with ease - by 2 3/4 lengths, the G1 Florida Derby by five lengths in his stakes debut at Gulfstream April 1, an Allowance Optional Claiming March 4 and a maiden score at Tampa Bay January 25 - all four in dominant fashion. Always Dreaming has looked untouchable during his streak and will be out to prove that his Preakness result was the exception, not the rule. John Velazquez has been tabbed to ride the morning line favorite from the rail.
Will hit the track for just the fifth time for trainer Chad Brown having posted a nice win in his first career start February 11, a respectable second with a 96 Beyer Speed Figure, over seven lengths clear of third in the G3 Gotham Stakes March 4 and a decent third in the G2 Wood Memorial Stakes April 8 - all results at Aqueduct. Last time out he burst on the stage with an incredible win in the G1 Preakness Stakes May 20. Cloud Computing has looked good in his four starts so far and hopes to build on the momentum of what was a career-defining win last time out. Javier Castellano will be in the saddle of the second betting choice from gate 2.

Doug O'Neill trained colt has just one career starts and it was a good one - a maiden score at Santa Anita July 1. He takes a major step up in competition Saturday hoping to gage just where he is at this point in his career. Mario Gutierrez rides the little-known third choice from gate 4.
Nick Zito trained colt has placed in four of five career starts - one win, two seconds and a third-place finish. Last time out was a fourth in the G3 Dwyer Stakes July 8 at Belmont Park after a respectable second in the G2 Woody Stephens Stakes on that track June 10 and a maiden score at Keeneland April 8. Giuseppe The Great has been decent in his career so far and shoots for a first stakes win Saturday with Luis Saez guiding him from post 3.
Legendary trainer Bill Mott sends out Good Samaritan for his seventh career start. His first resulted in a maiden score at Saratoga August 13 and his second was a very successful graded stakes debut - a win in the G2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine September 10. He has been equally competitive in four starts since - an OK fourth last time out in the G1 Belmont Derby Invitational July 8 followed a second behind Oscar Performance in the G3 Pennine Ridge Stakes on that track June 3, another second in the G2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6 and a respectable third as favorite behind Oscar Performance again in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf in November. Good Samaritan has been a factor in every career start so far and hopes to be again Saturday with Joel Rosario aboard from post 5.
