She returned from seven months away from the track and made her North American debut April 29, 2016 and promptly won an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park. Stormy Victoria has been pretty good since - an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out at Belmont Park September 22 followed a third in the G2 Nassau Stakes on this track May 27 and a second in the minor Powder Break Stakes at Gulfstream Park April 29. Before that was a fourth in the G3 My Charmer Handicap at Gulfstream Park West in November, a second in the G3 Athenia Stakes at Belmont Park last October and a third in the G3 Noble Damsel Stakes September 24, 2016. She has been just OK lately - a third last time out in the minor Sweet Briar Stakes on this track September 17 followed a sixth in the G3 Royal North Stakes here July 29 and a seventh in the minor Zadacarta Stakes on this track July 1. Before that was a good win in the G3 Whimsical Stakes on this track in April and a third in the minor Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay in February. Southern Ring already has two graded stakes wins on this track and hopes to snap a three-race losing streak from gate 2. Patrick Husbands has been tabbed to ride.
