In her last start, the Brad Cox-trained Margie's Intention posted a 3/4-length score in the G2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico on May 16. Previously, the daughter of Honor A. P. posted a record of two wins and two seconds from five starts in Louisiana state-bred restricted races at the Fair Grounds.
Kinzie Queen (John Holleman and Compton Racing) will look to the turn tables on Margie's Intention after finishing third against her in the Black-Eyed Susan. Previously, the daughter of McKinzie won a 1 1/16-mile allowance at Oaklawn Park. The Kentucky-bred trained by Greg Compton has a career record of two wins, three seconds and three thirds from 12 starts with earnings of $248,030.
"She is doing really good," said trainer Greg Compton. "She came out of the Black-Eyed Susan in great shape and she has been training really well. Last week, she had just a nice easy maintenance work and it went like clockwork. She looks great and I even think she put on a little weight since the Black-Eyed Susan. I expect her to run well in the Oaks. Hopefully, we can get a contested pace scenario for her late run. She will finish strong the last quarter of a mile. She will be tough with the right early pace, so I am hoping for and expecting good things."
Since the race was inaugurated in 1938, 16 of the 73 Delaware Oaks winners have also won the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga.
