Las Vegas, NV -- The 136th running of the Preakness Stakes takes place on Saturday afternoon at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland with a full field of 14 horses. Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom is the 2-1 favorite with beaten Derby favorite Dialed In the second choice at 9-2 in off track betting. Here is a look at each of the 14 horses.
Animal Kingdom 2-1
He ran a perfect race in the Kentucky Derby and just might be good enough
to win again against a weak field in the Preakness.
Dialed In 9-2
Trainer Nick Zito is running his mouth about how great his horse looks
again heading into the Preakness, but he said that before the Derby and
Dialed In finished eighth.
Mucho Macho Man 6-1
He finished third in the Kentucky Derby and always tries hard so he could
be right there again in the Preakness.
Shackleford 12-1
He has the speed to get to the front but probably can't hold on.
Dance City 12-1
Todd Pletcher has never won the Preakness but in this year's field he has a
shot.
Astrology 15-1
He starts from the rail so Mike Smith probably has no choice but to just let
him go and hope.
Midnight Interlude 15-1
Bob Baffert has won the Preakness five times including last year so why not
again?
Sway Away 15-1
He just missed out on graded earnings for the Derby but now gets his chance
in the Preakness and Garrett Gomez rides.
Flashpoint 20-1
He should battle it out with Shackleford and Astrology for the early lead and
they may all run each other into the ground.
King Congie 20-1
His trainer Tom Albertrani won with a big long-shot in horse wagering five
years ago with Bernardini.
Mr. Commons 20-1
His outside post probably dooms any chance he had.
Concealed Identity 30-1
He has no real shot in this race, especially from the outside.
Norman Asbjornson 30-1
His owner is touting his chances but he is about the only one.
Isn't He Perfect 30-1
He has speed and Edgar Prado in the irons but would be a shock.
