Las Vegas, NV -- With his win this past Tuesday at Laurel Park, Rapid Redux has cemented his legacy among some of the best horses of all time. His 19th consecutive win in the calendar year ties a U.S. record held by Triple Crown winner Citation (1948), and racing great Roseben (1905). The record tying win for Rapid Redux, came in a 1 1/16-mile allowance race and was against a field of familiar rivals.
While the closer, No Brakes, was expected to give Rapid Redux his biggest challenge, it was Awesome Rhythm who came closest to ending Rapid Redux's streak. As expected, he was the favorite and paid $2.60, with jockey J.D. Acosta aboard. Rapid Redux broke from the rail and had plenty of competition but prevailed for the victory once again.

Rapid Redux, a 5-year-old gelding by Pleasantly Perfect and Thiscatsforcaryl, has certainly become a horse that won't soon be forgotten. His trainer, David Wells, seemed to have the confidence his horse could come to Laurel, fresh and ready to win again. He was quoted saying after Rapid Redux's last race, "He came back really good," and "I don't think this race took too much out of him."
Clearly he was right, and the only question remaining is will Rapid Redux ever lose? His owners don't appear to have any intention of retiring him just yet, and we can all look forward to watching the magnificent gelding continue to dominate. Like his owner Robert Cole Jr. said, "This horse is something else."
