Awesome Baby Wins Santa Ysabel Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $100,000 Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes went down at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California this past Saturday, March 1 - a 1 1/16 mile test for three year old fillies. Bob Baffert trained 2-1 second choice Awesome Baby won her second graded stakes race in a row - this time by 2 3/4 lengths on a wet, sloppy track. In turn she earned 50 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Oak in May. Jerry Hollendorfer trained Artemis finished a good second while 3-2 favorite Swiss Lake Yodeler was third in the field of just five. Saintly Joan finished fourth while Be Proud trailed. Anniversary Kitty, Sweet Bliss, and Tiz Kissable scratched.
