Las Vegas, NV - Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will play host to the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes this Saturday, March 1. Three year old fillies will be featured as they go 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's main track searching for the winner's share of the $100,000 purse.
A field of eight females have been confirmed for the Santa Ysabel - race 8 on Santa Anita's Saturday card. Post time is 4:00 PM. Here is a brief look into the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
Awesome Baby - Bob Baffert trained filly won her debut - a MSW at Del Mar in August and followed that with a seventh four weeks later in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante August 31. She went on to a fifth September 28 in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes on this track. Awesome Baby was off for nearly three months after that result and most recently returned with a very impressive wire-to-wire win in the Grade 1 Santa Ynez Stakes here January 4. She stretches out to 1 1/16 miles Saturday and has apparently looked terrific in the lead up to the Santa Ysabel.
Be Proud - multiple stakes placed and recent stakes winner - Bob Baffert trained filly is coming off nice win in gate-to-wire fashion in the minor California Oaks at Golden Gate February 8 after a seventh in her only graded stakes action - the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet December 7. This after a second to Arethusa in the minor Sharp Cat Stakes here November 16, a maiden score October 27 and a pair of second place finishes. She is the most experienced of all the Santa Ysabel entries with eight starts (two wins and four seconds) and off a nice win looks good heading into the weekend.
Artemis - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly had improved each and every time out before stepping into graded stakes company and finishing fifth last time out in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes here February 1. She raced three MSW races to start her career with a third in her debut, a second December 8 and a win on this track January 3.

Swiss Lake Yodeler - another Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has won three of her five career starts with a second in there as well. Last time out was a step backward however - an eleventh as 3-1 favorite in the listed California Cup Oaks here January 25 after two straight minor stakes wins - the Soviet Problem Stakes December 21 at Hollywood Park and the Golden State Juvenile Fillies Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths November 1. She had looked mighty impressive before last time out and will be looking to rebound from that ugly performance in her return to a more favorable dirt surface.
Anniversary Kitten - has two career starts for trainer Craig Dolase - a maiden score in her debut at Hollywood Park December 21 was followed by a close second last time out in her stakes debut - the listed California Cup Oaks on this track January 25.
Saintly Joan - has five career starts for trainer John O'Hara with a win in her second career start - a MSW at seven furlongs on this track in October and one third place finish - in the minor Sharp Cat Stakes at Hollywood Park November 16. Last time out was a sixth in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes on this track February 1 after another sixth in the minor Blue Norther Stakes here January 1.
Sweet Bliss - broke maiden last time out on this track January 30 for trainer John Sherreffs after a fifth in her debut also here January 4.
Tiz Kissable - Tim McCanna trained filly will race for just the third time Saturday but is coming off an OK third in her stakes debut - the California Oaks at Golden Gate February 8. This after a maiden score in her debut on that same track December 15.
