A smallish group of six females has been confirmed for the Santa Ysabel - three of whom raced in the recent Blue Norther Stakes on this track. It is race 4 on Santa Anita's Saturday schedule with a post time of 1:30 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all six entries ahead of this Grade 3 event.
Scarlet Strike - Jerry Hollendorfer pupil has placed in all seven career starts - a win, three seconds and three third place finishes. Last time out was a second by a nose in the Blue Norther Stakes after a decent third in the Grade 3 Hollywood Starlet December 8. Before that was a third in the Sharp Cat after a very nice second in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita September 29 to Executiveprivilege. She has posted three workouts since the Blue Norther including two bullet moves and appears ready to take the next step in the Santa Ysabel.
Escape Act - makes her graded stakes debut Saturday after three MSW races produced a win (two back), a fourth and a third place finish. Last time out was her stakes debut - a fourth in the Blue Norther Stakes here January 1. In a race light on recent standouts, Escape Act has a chance to break through Saturday.
Heir Kitty - Peter Miller trained filly has finished fifth in three of her last four starts - the Blue Norther Stakes last time out, the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue three back and in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante behind Executiveprivilege and Beholder four back. She had an Allowance score two back at Hollywood Park and she did finish a very good second in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar in August - so we know that she can run with the best.
