Ground Support

Ground Support may have caught some people off guard, but she has certainly given her connections a reason to smile early in her career. The 2-year-old filly is a perfect 2-for-2.

On Aug. 30, Ground Support began her career in a maiden test at Kentucky Downs. She faced 11 other fillies in the mile turf contest and was sent off at an eye-popping 100-1 on the tote board. However, although Ground Support started slowly, she rated kindly and responded well when asked for her run. She broke her maiden at first asking by three-quarters of a length.

Off that debut, Ground Support moved up to graded stakes company. She lined up in the Miss Grillo Stakes (G2) at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 4, which is contested at 1 1/16 miles on the turf. This time, she went straight to the front and stayed there. Ground Support ultimately defeated race favorite Deep Learning by 2 lengths.

With that score, Ground Support earned a "Win and You're In" berth to the John Deere Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) on Oct. 31 at Del Mar. It was the third career graded stakes win for trainer Kelsey Danner.

Danner trains Ground Support for NBS Stable. The filly was purchased this year at the May Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale for $80,000 by NBS Stables/John Ballantyne. Ballantyne operates NBS with partners Art Neuhedel and Daryl Shaw.

Ground Support was bred in Florida by Champion Equine, LLC. She is by Army Mule and out of the Arch mare Arch Support. In 2010, Arch Support finished second in the Miss Grillo.

Precise (IRE)

In just her third career start, Precise (IRE) won her way into to the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

The 2-year-old filly made her first start on July 9 at Fairyhouse in a 6-furlong maiden race against 14 other fillies. Engaged in her racing, Precise finished second by three-quarters of a length behind betting favorite Quiet Mutiny (IRE).

Horse Racing Rebates

Off that game effort, Precise headed to Cork for a 7-furlong maiden race Aug. 14 and faced 10 rivals. This time, she disputed the lead and took clear control halfway through. Ultimately, Precise pulled away by 2 ¾ lengths to garner her first win.

Next, Precise stepped up in company just 10 days later by taking on the Prestige Fillies' Stakes (G3) at Goodwood in England on Aug. 24. The 7-furlong race is part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series: Win and You're In, guaranteeing the winner an automatic starting position in the $1 million John Deere Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Sent off as the second betting choice, Precise broke well, traveled strongly, and ended up beating race favorite Moon Target (GB) by three-quarters of a length. As part of the benefits of the Challenge Series, Breeders' Cup will pay the entry fees for Precise to start in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, which will be run at 1 mile.

Precise continued her winning ways at the Curragh on Sept. 14 when she hit the front late to post a three-quarters of a length victory over Beautify (IRE) in the 7-furlong Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) contested over yielding ground.

Precise made it four wins in five starts on Oct. 10 when she swept to the front a furlong from the finish to post a 3 1/4-length victory in the Fillies Mile (G1) over good ground at Newmarket.

Bred by trainer Aidan O'Brien family's Whisperview Trading, Precise is by Starspangledbanner (AUS) and is out of the Galileo (IRE) mare Way To My Heart (IRE).

Infinite Sky

Early in her career, Infinite Sky has shown that she has unlimited potential.

The 2-year-old filly made her racing debut on Aug. 3 at Ellis Park in a maiden test. The 1 1/16-mile turf contest drew a field of 12 fillies, and although Infinite Sky brushed with a rival at the beginning, she recovered well. She ran along the rail to finish fourth.

For her second start, Infinite Sky went to Kentucky Downs to run in another maiden event. Sent off as the heavy favorite in the mile contest, Infinite Sky rewarded her backers. She settled off the pace early before racing five wide to garner the victory. Infinite Sky defeated Payton Abbey by 1 ½ lengths.

After breaking her maiden, Infinite Sky took on graded stakes company in her third start. She faced off against 10 other fillies in the Jessamine Stakes (G2), which was held at 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 3. Infinite Sky broke a step slowly but rallied to finish a strong second. She was beaten by a length by Imaginationthelady and was a nose in front of betting favorite Time to Dream.

Brad Cox trains Infinite Sky for Godolphin, and the dark bay filly races as a homebred for the international racing operation. By Not This Time, Infinite Sky is out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Sky Painter, making her a half-sister to millionaire and Grade 1 winner Wet Paint.

Brave Deb

Although she went unsold as a yearling, Brave Deb is getting the last laugh as a racehorse. The 2-year-old filly became a graded stakes winner in just her second start.

Brave Deb made her career debut at Del Mar on Sept. 5 in a maiden test going a mile on the turf. The race drew a field of 10, and Brave Deb showed her talent from the jump. She led throughout the race and lived up to her name by holding on to win by a head over Yurak.

Horse Betting online with Cash

Off that gusty victory, Brave Deb made the move up to graded stakes company. She faced seven others in the Surfer Girl Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita on Oct. 5. The race is held at a mile on the turf. Brave Deb raced in second for the early stages of the contest before making her move, and she ultimately defeated Scratch It by a length to remain undefeated. Brave Deb was ridden by Mirco Demuro, who notched his first graded stakes win in North America.

Richard Mandella trains Brave Deb for Spendthrift Farm, and she races as home-bred. Brave Deb was offered at the 2024 Keeneland September yearling sale but came home when bidding stalled at $70,000.

Brave Deb is by Authentic and out of the Street Sense mare Nora's Joy. Brave Deb is the second foal out of Nora's Joy and is half-sister to Tirupati, who won the Wilshire Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita in March. Authentic, who won the 2020 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) for Spendthrift, was named Horse of the Year that season.

Final Accord

Final Accord has been perfect at the beginning of her career, and she became a graded stakes winner in just her second start.

The 2-year-old filly made her career debut in a maiden race at Woodbine on Sept. 11. Final Accord was undaunted facing colts while going 5 furlongs on the turf. Sent off as the betting favorite, she rewarded her backers as she rated kindly before powering away to a 4 ½-length victory.

Off that promising start, Final Accord moved up to graded stakes company. She made her second start in the Oct. 2 Matron Stakes (G3) at Belmont at the Big A. This time she faced seven other fillies going 6 furlongs on the turf. After racing in the back of the pack, Final Accord made her move and notched her first graded stakes score by a length over betting favorite Royal Testament.

Mark Casse trains Final Accord for Gary Barber and Peter Deutsch. The filly was purchased by the duo for $75,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September yearling sale. Final Accord is by War of Will. Casse trained War of Will for Barber, and together they won the Preakness Stakes (G1) and Maker's Mark Mile Stakes (G1).

Final Accord was bred in Kentucky by Robert Hoeweler. She is out of the Blame mare Closing Statement. From the famed Phipps Stable, Closing Statement is a granddaughter of the great mare Educated Risk, who was a multiple Grade 1 winner and finished second in the 1992 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

Time to Dream

Time to Dream made it easy for her connections to dream based on her stakes-winning summer in Saratoga.

The 2-year-old filly made her racing debut July 25 in a maiden test going a mile on the turf. She faced seven rivals and settled for tracking the frontrunners before making her move. Time to Dream took over with a sixteenth to go and forged clear to win by 2 ¼ lengths over Maiora.

After breaking her maiden at first asking, Time to Dream tackled stakes company in her second start. This time, Time to Dream lined up in the listed P. G. Johnson Stakes on Aug. 27 going 1 1/16 miles on the turf, and she was sent off as the betting favorite. She lived up to those expectations and drew away impressively to become a stakes winner. Time to Dream ultimately won by 5 lengths over Scratch It.

OTB Horse Betting

Time to Dream traveled to Keeneland for her third start, this coming in the 1 1/16-mile Jessamine (G2). Favored in the field of 11, Time to Dream was caught in traffic in the upper stretch and left with too much to do with her late charge falling a length short in a third-place finish.

Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher trains Time to Dream for Mike Repole's Repole Stable. The duo has won multiple Breeders' Cup World Championship races together. Time to Dream was purchased by Repole as a yearling for $750,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select sale.

Maggie Gieseke bred Time to Dream, who is by Not This Time. Time to Dream is out of the unraced Street Sense mare Wild Silk, who is also the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Red Carpet Ready.

In addition to being a successful broodmare, Wild Silk is also a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Joking.

Switch in Love (JPN)

Switch in Love (JPN) is looking to become the next Japan-based runner to make a splash at the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

The 2-year-old filly began her racing career on Aug. 17 at Chukyo in a maiden race going a mile on the turf. Switch in Love showed her ability early as she notched her first victory at first asking when she defeated Make One's Day (JPN) to get the win.

Off that promising debut, Switch in Love moved up to stakes company for her second start. It came in the listed Nojigiku Stakes at Hanshin on Sept. 20. Switch in Love took the lead in the mile contest but ultimately came in second, beaten 3 ½ lengths by the fast-closing Alankar (JPN).

Switch in Love is trained by Yoshito Yahagi, who made history at the 2021 Breeders' Cup at Del Mar when he won both the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) with Loves Only You (JPN) and the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) with Marche Lorraine (JPN). He also trains Forever Young (JPN), who finished third in both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) in 2024.

DMM Dream Club Co., Ltd., which owned Loves Only You, campaigns Switch in Love. The micro-share partnership group purchased Switch in Love for $1,202,954 at the 2023 JRA Yearling and Foal Sale. She was consigned by her breeder, Shunsuke Yoshida.

Switch in Love is by Contrail (JPN), the Japanese Triple Crown winner trained by Yahagi. She is out of the Galileo (IRE) mare Switch In Time (IRE). In turn, Switch In Time is a daughter of multiple Grade 1 winner Switch, who finished second in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) in 2010 and 2011 and finished third in the 2012 edition.

Queen of Hawaii (IRE)

After figuring out the racing game in her career debut, Queen of Hawaii (IRE) began ruling over her competitors in Ireland.

The 2-year-old filly made her first start on June 27 at the Curragh in a maiden contest going 7 furlongs. She finished sixth in a field of 13, and she was beaten about 4 ½ lengths by the winning Composing (IRE).

Queen of Hawaii clearly learned from that experience, as she demonstrated in her second start, which came at Leopardstown on July 17. Facing nine others in the mile contest, Queen of Hawaii chased Minerva (IRE) from the start and after dueling with that rival, pulled away to win by 2 ½ lengths to garner her first career victory.

Following that score, Queen of Hawaii moved up to stakes company. She lined up against five others in the Newtownanner Stud Irish EBF Stakes (G3) at the Curragh on Aug. 30. In touch with the leaders early, Queen of Hawaii put in an impressive run to claim the mile contest by 2 ¼ lengths over Moments of Joy.

Joseph O'Brien trains Queen of Hawaii for Philip Antonacci, who purchased the filly for $270,611 out of Book 1 of the 2024 Goffs Orby yearling sale.

Queen of Hawaii was bred by Susan Roy and Nicolas Wrigley. She is by Kingman (GB) and out of the Galileo (IRE) mare Hibiscus (IRE). Hibiscus is a full sister to Line of Duty (IRE), who won the 2018 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) at Churchill Downs.

Pacific Mission (GB)

Although Pacific Mission (GB) needed a race under her belt to figure things out, she has progressed nicely in her juvenile season.

The 2-year-old filly began her career in a 6-furlong contest over good turf at Ascot on July 25. Pacific Mission ducked in sharply at the start and ran greenly throughout. She finished next to last in the field of seven and was beaten 8 ¾ lengths.

In her next attempt, Pacific Mission was able to show her ability in a 7-furlong race on Aug. 13 over Kempton's all-weather surface, which was rated standard to slow. She raced prominently throughout, led over a furlong out, and kept to task as she defeated betting favorite Maneuver (GB) by 2 ½ lengths.

After breaking her maiden at second asking, Pacific Mission jumped up to stakes company in her third start. She lined up against seven other fillies in the May Hill Stakes (G2) at Doncaster on Sept. 11. The mile contest was held on good to soft turf. Although Pacific Mission dwelt at the start, she recovered to race well. She pressed the leaders over a furlong out and soon took the lead. However, Pacific Mission was headed near the finish and finished second by three-quarters of a length behind Aylin (IRE).

Andrew Balding trains Pacific Mission for Juddmonte, and the bay filly races as a homebred. Pacific Mission is by Lope de Vega (IRE) and out of the Dansili (GB) mare Big Break (GB). A multiple Group 3 winner in her own right, Big Break is a full sister to millionaire Famous Name (GB).

True Love (IRE)

Coolmore has another top-level juvenile filly in True Love (IRE). She has raced six times as a 2-year-old and never been worse than second.

The bay filly needed a few starts to break her maiden. On May 5, she finished second by 1 ¼ lengths on debut in a listed stakes at the Curragh going 5 furlongs. In her second start, True Love was narrowly beaten at Navan in a 6-furlong contest on May 17.

Off those promising efforts, True Love lined up in the 5-furlong Queen Mary Stakes (G2) on June 18 during Royal Ascot. This time, she put all of the pieces together and won by 1 ¼ lengths.

True Love took that forward momentum into the July 19 Railway Stakes (G2) at the Curragh as she took on colts. This time, she won the 6-furlong race by an easy 5 lengths over Puerto Rico (IRE), her stablemate. Puerto Rico would go on to win the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1) on Oct. 5, a "Win and You're In" race for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Following the Railway Stakes, True Love moved up to Group 1 company in the Phoenix Stakes (G1) at the Curragh on Aug. 9. She finished second in the 6-furlong contest, beaten 1 ½ lengths by Power Blue (IRE).

On Sept. 27, True Love redeemed herself in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1). She won the 6-furlong race by three-quarters of a length over Havana Anna (GB) to notch her first top level victory. Coolmore also won the Cheveley Park in 2024 with Lake Victoria (IRE), who went on to win the John Deere Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Aidan O'Brien trains True Love, who races as a homebred for Coolmore. She is by No Nay Never and out of the Fastnet Rock (AUS) mare Alluringly.

Balantina (IRE)

Balantina (IRE) got her start in Ireland on May 5 at the Curragh in a 6-furlong maiden race and finished a promising fourth in a field of 14. She stayed at the Curragh for her second start, which came in a 6- furlong race on May 25. This time, she defeated 12 others when she broke her maiden by a length.

Following that effort, Balantina headed to Royal Ascot in England for the Albany Stakes (G3) on June 20. Also held at 6 furlongs, the Albany drew 17 juvenile fillies. Balantina was slow into her stride and raced toward the rear before making her move. She ultimately finished third in her stakes debut, 2 ½ lengths behind the winning Venetian Sun (IRE).

Next, Balantina went to France to compete in the 7-furlong Prix Six Perfections - Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage (G3) on Aug. 3. This time, she chased the pacesetter before taking the lead with a furlong to go. However, Balantina was caught at the wire by Green Spirit and finished second by a short head.

On Aug. 23, she returned to the Curragh for the Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes (G2). Balantina made no real impression as she finished fifth of six in the 7-furlong race.

Donnacha O'Brien trains Balantina for Steve Weston and Reeves Thoroughbred Racing. In 2013, Dean and Patti Reeves won the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) with Mucho Macho Man. The Reeves and Weston also were part of the partnership that campaigned multiple Group 1 winner Porta Fortuna, who finished a narrow second in the 2023 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Balantina was bred by Summerhill Farm, Lynch Bages Ltd and Seamus Murphy. She is by Ten Sovereigns (IRE) and out of the Montjeu (IRE) mare Balankiyla (FR). Balantina was sold as a yearling for $108,244.

Ultimate Love

Ultimate Love has had the ultimate start to her career, going a perfect 3-for-3 as she moved up the ranks to stakes winner.

The 2-year-old filly began her career on July 24 at Colonial Downs going a mile on the turf. Undaunted by her first race, she powered past her foes to win by 2 ¾ lengths.

Following that win, Ultimate Love took on allowance company at Laurel Park on Sept. 5. Once again, she went a mile on the turf, and once again, she was victorious. This time, Ultimate Love was even more dominant and pulled away to win by 6 ¾ lengths.

Ultimate Love then moved up to stakes company in the Sept. 27 Selima Stakes at Laurel. Sent off as the betting favorite in the 1 1/16-mile turf contest, she rewarded her supporters. After racing mid-pack in a field of eight, Ultimate Love made her move and won with ease. Her final margin of victory was 4 lengths.

Trained by Mike Trombetta, Ultimate Love races as a homebred for Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Stud. She is by Curlin and out of the Bernardini mare Tsunami of Love, meaning Ultimate Love hails from one of racing's most successful families.

Tsunami of Love is out of millionaire and Grade 1 winner My Typhoon (IRE), who raced for Live Oak. My Typhoon is out of the great Urban Sea (IRE), making her a half-sister to the likes of Galileo (IRE), Sea The Stars (IRE) and Black Sam Bellamy (IRE).

La Ville Lumiere

La Ville Lumiere has shown promise in her young career. The 2-year-old filly has made four starts and is already graded-stakes placed.

She made her debut at Santa Anita on May 16 in a maiden test going 4 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Although La Ville Lumiere led in the stretch, she ended up finishing second to betting favorite Light Won Up by 1 ¼ lengths. However, La Ville Lumiere was 5 ¾ lengths in front of the next competitor.

Off that initial effort, La Ville Lumiere switched to the turf for her next start, which came in a 5-furlong maiden event at Santa Anita on May 30. This time, La Ville Lumiere was sent off as the heavy favorite, and she rewarded her backers when she pulled away to defeat Velvet Dream by 1 ¼ lengths.

La Ville Lumiere took on stakes company for her third start. It came in the Sept. 6 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes (Listed) going a mile. She faced 10 other fillies and although she was in the mix, La Ville Lumiere ultimately finished fifth. The race was won by Dreaming of Alys.

For her fourth start, La Ville Lumiere moved up to graded stakes company. She faced five others in the Oak Leaf Stakes (G2) on Oct. 4 at Santa Anita. The race is held at 1 1/16 miles. La Ville Lumiere stalked from along the rail and finished third behind Explora and La Wally.

What is the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf?

The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is a one mile turf stakes race for thoroughbred fillies two years old. As its name implies, it is part of the Breeders' Cup thoroughbred championships, the de facto year-end championship for North American thoroughbred racing.

The race was run for the first time in 2008 during the first day of Breeders' Cup racing at that year's host track, Santa Anita Park, and since its inception has been limited to 12 starters.

Because of technical requirements, it was not eligible for classification as a graded stakes race in its first two runnings. The American Graded Stakes Committee made it a Grade II race in 2010.
