Mervyn LeRoy Handicap

The Mervyn LeRoy Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually during the second week of May at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. A Grade II event open to horses, age three and up, it is contested over a distance of one and one-sixteenth miles on Cushion Track synthetic dirt.

Named for the American film director, Mervyn LeRoy who was a racing enthusiast and one of the track's founders, the Mervyn LeRoy Handicap carries a purse of $150,000 and is a prep to the Hollywood Gold Cup. Elevated to a Grade I event in 1988, it was downgraded to its present Grade II status in 1991.
