The Wilshire Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in early May at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. A Grade III event open to fillies and mares age three and older, it is contested on turf over a distance of one mile (8 furlongs). First run in 1953 as a one mile race on dirt for three-year-old fillies, it was not run again until 1963 when it was revived as an event that included older mares. In 1973, it was run in two divisions. Since inception, the Wilshire Handicap has been contested at a variety of distances.
