The Grade 2 Santa Margarita Stakes is on tap for Santa Anita Park this Saturday March 16. Fillies and mares four years old and upward will be featured as they go 1 1/8 miles on Santa Anita's dirt track. A purse of $300,000 will be on the line.
Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park
Three year old Kentucky Derby Hopefuls will go at it in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas Saturday, March 16. A nice purse of $600,000 is on the line as is 50 points toward qualification on the Road to the Kentucky Derby for those willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Oaklawn's dirt track. All of the top trainers will be represented in what promises to be an intriguing race.
Kentucky Derby Points Update Mar 11, 2013
With less than two months until the biggest race on North American soil, the Kentucky Derby contenders are busy gaining points toward qualification into the Run for the Roses. Two races this past weekend gave out a total of 170 points - the Tampa Bay Derby was contested at Tampa Bay Downs and the San Felipe went down at Santa Anita.
Las Flores Stakes at Santa Anita Park
The 61st running of the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes comes our way from Santa Anita Park in beautiful Arcadia, California this Sunday, March 10. A purse of $100,000 will be on the line for fillies and mares four years old and upward willing to dash 6 1/2 furlongs on Santa Anita's dirt track.
2013 Tampa Bay Downs Derby
Tampa Bay Downs will host one of two qualifying races along the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" this Saturday, March 9. The Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby will feature Kentucky Derby hopefuls as they chase the winner's share of the $350,000 purse and the valuable 50 points that come along with the win. The combatants will go 1 1/16 miles on Tampa Bay Downs' dirt track.
Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs
The Grade 3 Hillsborough Stakes is on tap for this Saturday, March 9 from Tampa Bay Downs. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be featured in this 1 1/8 mile turf races as they chase their share of the $150,000 purse.
San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California hosts the important Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes this Saturday, March 9. Three year old Kentucky Derby hopefuls will be after the winner's share of the $300,000 purse and the 50 points toward the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" when they go 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's dirt track. They will also be using this race as a tune-up for the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby April 6.
